Medium red garnet in color with ever-so-slight clearing at the edges. Full, forward & attractive nose of ripe fruits aromas of cherries, blueberries & dark plums with overtones of exotic spice notes of nutmeg & cloves, earthy/dusty & some floral notes, cherry-cola, herbs, minerals & a touch of vanilla in the background. Medium bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of sweet cherries, strawberries & plums with spice notes of nutmeg & cloves, cocoa, cola, minerals & a slight hint of vanilla. Lingering smooth finish. Drinks quite well at present & at 12 years of age, it may be close to or at its peak of development.

Still drinking beautifully — at PNP, rather full-bodied, with lovely rose and strawberry notes, with some raspberry, earth and tartness on the finish. On day two, the delicate berry fruit had become heavier, with more of a dark fruit and earthy note. Not as enjoyable/Pinot-like; wish I had saved some though to try on day three.

Decant this wine hours before serving, reduces the smoky node and allows the full depth of the fruit to be experienced. Very consistent smooth flavor of fruit and forest throughout, long finish.

This score is based on personal preference, but what others love about this wine is lately what I can't stand about domestic pinot. The punch of ripe Russian River fruit initially gives it sense of place, but after that this fruit bomb could be from anywhere on the west coast. If your idea of good pinot is overripe, flabby, without acid and exposed to a heavy dose of new toasty vanilla wood, this is for you. This wine is undoubtedly built for California Cab drinkers. Tannins on this are far from integrated, and can use at least two years, so maybe that's part of my problem. The Drew Family Wines Fog-Eater we opened next to this completely outclassed it. Neutral oak and unique deep-end flavors developed flavors with low sugar and strong acidity

I will seek out and buy this wine again, without a doubt! Was definitely my WOTN and it had some formidable competition. In fact, I've not been more impressed or pleased with any of the Pinots (or Burgs) that I've had over the past 9-18 months and similarly, I've had and/or tasted many well-respected ones. Regardless of price point, this one earned every dollar and so I'm hoping I can find it for south of $50. Sorry for my lack of description but it was literally too good for words! Burgundian in its terroir-driven nose & palate entry; transitioning to rich, smoked fruit, wild mushroom and roasting herbs that carried through the long finish and balanced perfectly by a structured but fully integrated acidity. We had finished dinner and tri-tip wouldn't have been the right match anyway but this would have really complimented a decadent meal like a Hen of the Woods mushroom gnocchi and duck confit.

Full bodied with plenty of fruit and an earthy finish. This is just a great Pinot, particularly at this price. Just wish I had a lot more of this one. Wonderful to drink now but still has years ahead of it.

Josh Raynolds IWC note nails this wine, right down to the long, spicy finish. It is darker than ruby, with a very complex nose including cherry, cola, leather and spice. In the mouth there is plenty of sweet fruit, but also tons of acidity, which makes for the spicy finish. Will likely improve with age. As with most Hansel wines, the QPR is outstanding.

Medium-Full bodied with sweet cherry flavors. The alcohol still shows a bit. It's fruit forward as expected. Very enjoyable if you like the candied fruit offered by this type of Pinot. Drink now-2018

Excellent. Earthy, red fruit. Little bit of spice and well integrated tannins. Paid $40 at K&L and will buy more. Enjoyed with friends at Thanksgiving.

Drink this after two blockbuster cabs so it was tough coming off those two wines. Got a nose of cherry, mushroom and strawberry. Very California-esque. It then had flavors of sour cherry, sarsaparilla with a hint of earth on the 20 second finish. The fruit was very in your face, which did it good following the two cabs but not be for the Burgundy drinker.

Very solid and still young. Dark fruit, effervescent on the palette. Still a pretty big wine, paired with steak sandwiches and fared well. Try again in 4-6 mos.

Very seductive vanilla nose. Lots of spice, great medium mouth feel with lots of layering. Lots of currants ,cloves mixed with tobacco, cherry. Nice oak flavor but not overdone although it's new oak hence the nose & new oak flavors. Very enjoyable wine but the new oak might not be for everyone.

Weak aromas, initially bitter and after one hour it is showing spicy which I personally like. Medium to dark color and up to now buttery with some spices.
