(48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot, 12.5% Alkohol) Granatrot, weissliche Ränder. Die Nase ist direkt nach dem Öffnen weit entwickelt, zeigt, reiffruchtige Aromen, Tabak, Waldboden, ein angenehmer Altweinduft. A surprisingly drinkable wine but not a pleasant one. Ruby color with brick edge. Fruity palate with spicy oak and some tannins for the first hour. Then the palate change into bitter and spicy like Chinese herbal medicine. At this stage, it show more oak than the fruit. Not worth to find one for enjoy.
Mid May 2020: transfered into a decanter and immediately served; fresh rubin color; black and red berries bouquet later joined by an intense mocca scent; juicy on the palate with a fruity acidity and still a touch a tannins; light/medium body; short/medium finish.
An excellent classic mature Claret.
This bottle came from a Chayoux family cellar. The Chayoux family were the former owners of Chateau La Lagune.

While the cork disintegrated when I tried to extract it, using a cork screw rather than my ahso (two pronged cork puller - which I left at home) that I normally use for such situations, the wine was still holding its own.
Dark garnet colored with no evidence of brickish or rust aging signs, medium bodied, the black berry and cherry fruits were a bit muted, giving way to a layer of acidic musty, earthy leather, black olive tapenade, and tobacco leaf, all classic aged Bordeaux characteristics. Time to drink. This was our last bottle of this label, the others having been consumed long ago.
As written in my blogspot (below), this was consumed as a birthyear vintage bottle celebrating birth of grandson.
Generally consistent with my previous note. Integrated dried fruits, light-ish body, a nice old school claret. No bitterness or strong tannins this time, though still a bit too much acidity for my liking. (B)

Bottle and cork in perfect condition, obviously well stored. Wine still looks young at this stage, it had lighter rim but not as other bottles of similar age. Nose was strong and alcoholic at first, which was off putting, it mellowed with air. Still strong aromas of dried black berries, lead pencil and sour plum. Lots of tannin and a bit too much acidity, which made the wine dis-balanced. If not for the bitterness, I would have liked it more. (B-)

This bottle was drinking very well, there is a youthful character to the nose with blackcurrant, violets, earth and cherry. The palate also shows some fruit freshness and good carry. This specific bottle could have held another few years with ease but it will obviously vary from bottle to bottle at this stage.

This is a pleasant, mature bordeaux. The bouquet is delecate but definitly pleasant. It has a red color, tending toward a bit of brownish tinge. The fruit is clean, there is minimal tanin and oak but the foundation of this wine is firm. I wish I had more of it

Old and elegant. Cork popped out in great shape. Good nose upfront. Let it breathe for about ten minutes and sampled. It was very fine! Still some fruit and tannins, no hint of bricking at all. This vintage has a few more years on it yet. Nice velvety medium bodied weight to the wine. Good show of herbs and spices. Paired beautifully with the pan roasted rack of lamb.

9 Bordeaux 1981, 1982, 1983 Pichon Lalande, La Lagune, Gruaud Larose showed lots of acid and fruit on the nose, rich, ripe fruit on a medium body of lovely wine, medium/long pleasant finish, at its peak. My 5th place, Group #6.
