  • Decanted and cooled it down to around 60. Bright and punchy acidity and red fruit, especially on the nose and initial attack. Then spicy pie cherry and assertive fine-grained tannin. The finish was medium. While engaging, the wine seemed a little uncertain. Pleasant and a lovely way to enjoy the evening.
Revelation - by mistake I left wine in the decanter overnight. Dramatic change and much for the better - elegant, even ethereal. Lighter red fruit, restrained acidity. Burgundian and beautiful. Let that be a lesson to me for the remaining bottles.

  • A Volnay of a Barolo. Elegant, floral nose and notes of forest floor, cherry, mint, and a hint of juniper. A silky mouthfeel and a long finish. It went very well with my non traditional Easter dinner of Japanese wagyu with shiitakes, ufer biber sesame , and ginger. I also had a rack of pork cooked on the big green egg. A lovely dinner

  • Disjointed and really disappointing. Could be a flawed bottle. Hope so, cause I have another 5.............

  • This was decanted immediately before drinking and served rather cool in Zalto burgundy glasses. It had a slightly dirty organic smell which didn't seem like a fault, indeed it was rather exciting, like well-hung game. Quite open in the mouth. Easy to drink now but gives the impression that it will keep for decades.

  • Nose: The nose is pretty and perfumed that favors the upper register with red cherries, strawberries, rose petals, crushed rocks, juniper berries, and savory herbal notes. There is a purity and elegance that is immensely enticing and all together attractive.

Taste: The feel is medium bodied with tart, high acidity and youthful, yet silky tannins. The feel is well balanced and poised with red cherries, strawberries, crushed rocks, rose petals, savory herbal tones and potpourri on the finish.

Overall: This Is a beautiful Barolo that is beginning in its window. While I would imagine that the Cannubi and Monvigliero are wound too tight, this however is in a very giving spot. This is much more on the primary side at the moment, but all of those aspects have come into balance. This can still go longer, but it is open for business with two hours of air.

  • Wunderfull aromas and balance. Orangebitter in nose among other. Still a bit young

  • Very traditional Barolo, which as you can expect was totally too young. Super chewy tannins, and we got a major smokiness to it. I'm not used to any wine being that smoky - it almost had a laphroaig type smokiness to it. Wait until 2023 to open

  • This is a wonderful Barolo that I decided to enjoy for Thanksgiving dinner. The nose is quite floral with a distinct rose note. The palate is full of juicy cherries with just a hint of mint. I decanted for five hours prior to drinking, which took great restraint, but it is definitely worth the effort. I have a few more bottles, but if you only have one, I would decant and enjoy

  • Dark-toned aromas with a hint of strawberry. Chewy tannins which in the end are not aggressive. Medium weight. Maturing and quite tasty but still too young.

  • Excellent old world barolo that is drinking well now. Love it.

  • From 375ml, p&p, tight yet accessible. Signature tapenade on the nose, vibrant on the palate, promising some length on the finish in another 6 -12 months. Yet a notch below the 2009 (also from 375ml), more plush with a less acidic finish. Final judgment reserved with many more splits to go.

  • Clear bright ruby. Expressive floral nose with rose, mint and cherry. Elegant, very fine tannin, ready and accessible.

  • Rigtig god traditionel Barolo.

  • Better showing than last time. Florals were delicate and airy with some sweet grippy tannins on the finish. Took about 90 minutes of air before the wine displayed some nuance.

  • Medium light clear ruby; dried flowers, minty spices, sour red cherry and hint of prune in this 14% abv. Tart and finely tannic mouthfeel bodes well for preservation if aging but not so backward to be unpleasurable now particularly as a partner to food. Good qpr

  • Wonderful olive nose and beautiful clear garnet color. This drinks really well right now with beautiful balance in a traditional style barolo. I had the Monvigliero at a restaurant in Piemonte which was fantastic but was disappointed I could only find this in the US. Well this is wonderful as well. Very happy I have 5 more.

  • Slightly more than one year after last tasting, presents as a medium clear rose red. Needs time open, the floral red fruit scents with a tinge of blood orange. More delicate than many, with light cherry, mint, and a sense of firmness.

  • Brilliant well balanced wine. Wonderfull tanins - the best 2010 tanins tasted so far including the main Burlotto wines. Not closed down, but thightend after 1 hour. Nose good and elegant but not as profound as other Burlotto wines. 4 more waiting in stock - I guess it will improve and be even better in 3-5+years.

  • Bright and rich at the same time. Elegant and vibrant, with all manner of flavors packed into a medium to light-bodied design. Still tight. Glad I have three more bottles #humblebrag

  • Light ruby foreshadowing the light and delicate wine that is presented. Nice acidity and firmness, quite open and delicate, with round easy tannins. Not at all the tannic monster that are many young Barolo's but more in the style of Langhe. Tart cherry, graphite, raspberry and mint. Hard to picture great improvement, reasonably priced, so more of a drink now Barolo.

  • Very juicy, and grapey. The palate was tart and tannic and, to me, uninteresting. Seems pretty simplistic at this point.

  • Half of the bottle poured into a half-bottle, and the rest stood two hours int he 17 degrees C cellar before being poured into a Zalto Burgundy glass and served with lamb with porcini mushrooms. Fine primary nose like a young pinot noir. Showing great textural richness, but a bit too warm. Was cooled a little and evolved further with air: What magnificent complex and precise aromas! From memory this is a lot better than the 2009, and the last glass was full of perfectly delineated fruit, licorice, menthol and lots of juice. Great stuff with a great future but certainly impressive now.

Second half, drunk a week later, decanted an hour: This time it has lots of brown spices among the berries, and tannins for which I find no other word than 'delicious', even without food. This is so good. (Damn! It is sold out.)

  • {Visit to Burlotto} Darker than the Langhe Nebbiolo by a degree, maybe two, but with a nose considerably more intense - surely this is Cru wine and not a Classico? Nope, it's Classico. Fabio's really fashioned a great wine here - plenty of structure, with exotic, substantive perfumes and a finish that builds in intensity then lasts for a minute or more. Just superb. 14,0% abv. drink 2020-2035. highly recommended
