happy mother's day wine! popped this in May 2015. great juice - big perfume, full bodies and delish. Had this with seared duck breast and it was perfect.

Great balance, sweet black cherry and strawberry fruit, bright garnet color...not much on the nose (but I'm coming down with a cold!) but what's there seems alcoholic or medicinal.

Although my taste is trending away from bigger, fruitier PNs to something a little more restrained, this is still my favorite of the bigger style, and my favorite Roar. I'd continue to order these except I waited too long to pull the trigger on the 2012s. I imagine I could also have saved them longer. This is well perfumed but not extravagantly (I was also grilling meat, so it had some competition in the olfactory area), and tasted of raspberries, cherries, cloves, allspice. Like a good but not sugary summer pie.

This continues to be one of my favorite PNs, although the QPR is getting a little unfavorable. In a lineup with 20 other pinots, this went last and still managed to be in my top few. It had that sweet cherry fruit of SLH without being candied, a floral nose of violets and wet earth, a midpalate that was already showing some secondary leathery notes. By this point of the evening, the finish was lost on me.

Great bottle of wine. Still a young but beautiful. Nice fruit but not a fruit bomb. I look forward to enjoying to next two bottles of this wine that I have left.

The score is for this particular bottle. Certainly not made in a style that we prefer--all heaviness, with no elegance or grace. I'm willing to believe that this bottle was opened too soon after shipping, but it's rare to find a wine we couldn't find some virtue in. Time in the opened bottle didn't help this one come together. Anybody want the leftovers?

Pop and Poured, consumed over about 90min. Fruit forward lots of ripe cherry and cola, some of the Barnyard funk on the nose. Maybe could use some more time but was very enjoyable now. Paired with mediterranean risotto and honey balsamic glazed chicken.

Light purple. Full throttle California Pinot, great fruit, balancing acidity, drinking well now, long life ahead.

Plum, cherry, and sweet smokiness. Refined and polished. Soft tannins and ready to drink.

nice minerality, good fruit strawberry, very noticeable alcohol not as overbearing as I would expect from a 14.7% but still some warmth.

Strawberry and raspberry dominate the nose but there is a hint of vanilla and spice.
Tart cherries and vanilla oak flavors shine through the rich and full body.
It has a long finish with pronounced tannins, definitely enjoyable now.
