Fully mature, with caramel and decay in the nose and on the palate. I like that profile, along with its saline minerality, but some may find it over the hill due to a decline in upfront fruit and vigor. This ought to be drunk now in my view.

Seeing the CT consensus that the drinking window was closing on this wine and reading PMJak11's TN I dug out my last bottle from the cellar with bittersweet anticipation. I was not disappointed. What a delicious pour! All bramble and boysenberry, the long, strong and mouthwatering nose was present from when first decanted through about an hour of air time and the 2 hours to consume. Mouthwatering. The drinking did not disappoint, following the nose precisely. The same deep fruit with a little tar and a looong finish. Knowing it was my last bottle each sip was held in the mouth: relished and savored. Silky smooth with just the right amount of astringency, acidity and tannins on the finish to balance the fruit. What a treat. While I am sure there are better wines, I certainly wasn't thinking about that as we enjoyed this one. There were no signs this wine was on it's last legs: no bricking on the edge and no deterioration of the fruit. I don't know how much more life there is in this wine but the only reason I would suggest drinking now as opposed to holding this beauty with great anticipation is to enjoy it. This wine was a reminder of why I collect and hold wines.
Always nice! PnP’d. Dark red color. Classic Napa nose with cherries, oak, and tar. Medium depth and medium finish. Similar to previous bottles. I would drink up soon.

One of my favorite producers! 1hr+ decant. Dark red color. Nose had cherries, tar, and baking spices. Wine had nice depth and balance, but began to tire towards the end of the bottle. Medium minus finish. I would drink up and be mindful of the amount of air.

A really well-done Napa Cabernet. It’s big without question, but any effort to make it smaller would be against its nature. And although it’s big there is nothing overdone. Full flavored, with currant and eucalyptus, but more notable for its harmony than its flavor descriptors. By Napa standards at least, and arguably in a more universal sense, Neal Cabernet’s value outpaces its price tag.

This was my last of 2 bottles. The previous one tasted a bit over the hill, but this one had aged well and was extremely smooth and delicious. If you have any of this I think you should enjoy it very soon, it's at its peak.

2 hour decant, some sediment. No notes taken but this was another stunning bottle. Great fruit, balance and enough tannic edge to go many more years. Long savory finish. Excellent wine. Will see if I can find more of this vintage as it is ready to drink now. If not, younger vintages to hold.

Wow. Drinking extremely well. Nice nose, well balanced and a nice long finish. If its not at peak drinking now, not sure I see it getting better since its excellent. Opened up a bottle of this last year and it needed to be decanted for 45 minutes. The extra year in the bottle served it well. Glad I have 1 more bottle.

2-1/2 hr. decant (some sediment). Black to deep mahagony/purple edge. Initial nose of black fruit backed by toasty oak. Developed some spice later. Black fruit, spice and a bit of smoke. Good balance between fruit, acid and tannin. Medium finish. Drinking well now with a long decant, will keep for many years to come. Deep, rich and elegant.

500ml bottle uncorked but not decanted, and allowed to air for 75 mins before following over 2 hrs. Better than my last recent bottle, the fruit seemed polished rather than in a dumb phase. Definitely fruit-dominant with modest structure, will drink 2 remaining bottles by 2017.

Blackberry, black cherry fruit with a nice core of earth, licorice, dark chocolate and subtle tobacco notes. Very tight right now with firm tannins but most likely will soften over time which it needs. Good long finish here, typical Neal, good stuff.

Decanted for 45 minutes. Out of the bottle, the wine was very tight, but opened up nicely. Paired well with a coffee/pepper crusted ribeye, so full flavor, but not an 'over the top' cab. It's what you anticipate when you lay a cab down for a few years. Glad I still have 2 bottles left.

.500ml bottle opened and allowed to air for 45 mins, but not decanted. Star anise and deep red fruit on the nose. Mouthfeel comes across a bit chalky and dry; blackberry and other dark fruit flavors, but they come across as a watered-down, backstage player to the tannic base. Not sure if this is still evolving or in a dumb phase, as late as it seems in its life. Confused about longevity tonite, but far more enjoyable than my notes suggest. Continues to improve 2.5 hours after uncorking, assume more air is the solution?

100% organically estate grown Cabernet. 84% Howell Mtn. fruit with the balance from Mt. Veeder, Atlas Peak, Rutherford. 81% new French oak for 24 months and another 2 years in bottle before release. 3+ hours in the decanter reveal medium+ aromas that represent the mountain fruit well. Scents of blackberry, dark cherry and cassis, mingle with aromas of sage, bramble, herbs, pencil shavings, chocolate, cigar box, espresso bean, earth and tea. Full attack of flavors on the palate; dark cherry, wild blackberry and plum are met with cedar, cigar tobacco, bay leaf, sage and thyme, along with spice, tea, dried flowers, dark chocolate covered espresso beans, graphite and earth. Acidity is medium-plus showing good structure along with moderate-plus, dusty tannins and density. The finish is long with intensity, chewy and dense. Still youthful and can use another few years of aging.

Tasted of cherry/blackberry. Mouthfilling tannins that lingered (and lingered) Black and opaque to the edge. Nose of blackberry, black cherry and black currants. After two hours, the tannins assumed their rightful place and backed up the smooth and luscious fruit from the nose. At 3 hours or so, a note of baking spices began to come through as well.
