- Ruby color and aromas of licorice anise, smokey, dusty and cherry. It's balanced with a medium/full body. Polished texture with a long finish - Delicious!! Only have one more bottle.

From memory, did not take notes at time of drinking. - This was a wonderful Barbera wine. The purity of the fruit was wonderful. The deep cherry flavors matched well with the excellent acidity. I tend to want to spend $15 - $25 on Barbera based wines but I have always wanted to try this (along with the V.V.). It was on sale and I wish I bought more. This has got me even more curious to see how good Barbera can get when treated with a more noble touch.

Lots of primary fruit. Over-the-top for the first hour in the bottle and finishes a little bitter. Later, some earth starts to show to balance it out. Best with food

Wow! This is great Barbera with richness, balance, complexity and style. The nose is complex with an earthy berry intensity which does not remind you of Cabernet, Merlot, Shiraz, etc. Wish I had more!

A Visit To Vietti (Vietti, Castiglione Falletto): The nose shows lots of complex spice with raisins and dark cherries working together with cinnamon and hints of vanilla. When tasted, the wine is immediately juicy, full, and showing plenty of strawberry fruit. The strawberries have a touch of sweet candy to them that lingers above the other flavors as the wine evolves. Even acidity keeps everything bright and a touch of minerality gives a sense of purity to the mid palate. The tannins are slow to evolve, and they settle into the molars to provide structure without disrupting the rest of the wine.

Kelly and Kevin’s excellent adventure before WWS 2012; 11/4/2012-11/11/2012 (La Morra): Bigger, sweet and more obvious fruits than the tre vigne. The vineyard which is in front of the winery used to have nebbiolo vine but twenty five years ago, they decided to plant Barbera instead which some folks thought was crazy. Blueberry jam, spicy, a hint of oak, salt and mineral. Excellent concentration and minerality. This is a bigger scale wine than the 10 tre vigne but not necessarily better for me.

Christmas 2020 & Beyond -- Pandemic Wines (Quarantine in Arlington): Surprisingly dense and tar-like, reminding me of Barbera’s Piedmont neighbor, Barolo. Long and complex, but might have wanted more fruit in this one.

Amazing wine. Red and black fruits. A little ripe. Great freshness. Good lasting. Maybe it can last a few more years, but it is great right now.

Medium body, a hint of earth, black fruit, but with a little harsh finish.

Nice balance and purity. Still on the young side but with an hour in the glass it opens to spice and charming floral notes.

consistent with previous notes although drank much better out of the bottle. Not to say decanting didn't help it improved.

Nice Barbara. Good acidity, definitely a food wine. Was best about two hours after opening. Seemed to really integrate. Earthy with fruit.
