This is good. Sweet fruit without being a fruit bomb. Touch of vanilla and a faint hint of coconut. Good rich red colour, good body but not a heavy weight, dusty tannins, enough acid to suggest further bottle aging, nice length. Has taken a while to blossom but drinking well now and should go another 5+ years. 91+.

{screwcap, 14.5%} Colour was surprisingly aged; the nose was rather flat and muted. I suspect poor storage. Slightly baked, raisiny fruit; mild dusty tannins, medium acid. But seems hollowed-out somehow; I can't believe this to be representative.

Hunter Valley - 6 Cellar Doors (Hunter Valley): {screwcap, 14.5%, A$65} Big youthful mouthful of chocolate and liquorice. Plush velvety palate; highlighting the big rich McLaren Vale characteristics. Lowish acid, medium/full body, medium tannins. Not too hot, despite 14.5%. A potential bruiser, but behaving itself. Best before ten years, most likely.

A very good wine reflecting the fruit intensity of a McLaren Vale Shiraz
