3/18/2023 4:41:00 AM - I changed the score on the 2009 Kathryn Hall. Thanks for pointing that out.

2/12/2015 1:06:00 PM - Very interesting conversation between you and Bandreas who says 84 is not a poor score. Although CT is definitely resetting the scoring bar, it seems our community is still abiding by the same scoring system the "pros" use. Only difference is that we, the people, don't rely on producers for our livlihood, so don't have motivation to rate wines above 90 so they will sell. Respect to Bandreas for rating as experienced, but until the CT community also resets the bar to where 84 is still a good wine, we will also do a disservice to the wine community. We don't seek out 84's, and we don't put any credence in a 90+ score from RP. For Bonnie and me, 84 represents a poor wine we would not buy. Hoping Bandreas sees the nuance, or is committed to resetting the bar so tha 84 represents a good wine.

11/5/2013 8:25:00 AM - Hi Bandreas & all, Thanks for the clarification on your scores. All is subjective and that includes how one rates wines. I tend to look at an 84 as pretty midgrade. There is no right or wrong. I do agree that scores should reflect what you are drinking at the time, not how it may turn ourt later. We all know wines can get better with time. Keep you glasses full! 11/4/2013 3:49:00 PM - To Barry Notes: Thanks for your comment on my notes on the 2010 Black Kite Pinot Noir. You need to know that I am scoring very conservatively and for me 84 is not negative. The other thing is I judge the wines I am scoring mostly on how they show at the time I taste them. The future is, I find, hard to predict, especially when I have no previous experience with a given wine, as was the case with the Black Kite. Bernd Andreas

8/31/2013 3:21:00 PM - To BARRY NOTES- Thanks for the "Bravo Zulu" re my 1990 Cantemerle notes. I agree with you about taking some time before your tasting the wine again. But, for me it was the last bottle of that wine. I see that you live in Denver. In my youth, I went to Belmont grade school in the 1st and 2nd grade. That was when they still had "Streetcars" in Denver!

8/13/2013 8:50:00 AM - Barry, I too was disappointed in the RMR score. Was hoping for a lot better. The 2006 followed a 2003 that I was really disappointed in.
