It is clearly - at least this bottle - beginning to show its age. Mature notes of plum, cherries, spices and tobacco. It still has enough fruit to balance its tannins but not for a long time further in my view.

3/6, cork 80% soaked, decanted 1/2 hr. Medium/deep garnet core, pale garnet rim. Gently spicy, aromatic nose, sour red cherry, spice, florals. Medium bodied, composed and harmonious with red cherry fruit, a touch of savour, vibrant acidity, fine, pretty much resolved tannin, good length spicy finish. Excellent, in the classic mould and now drinking well.

2/6, decanted 1 hour. Deep garnet. Nose, a touch reticent, shows red fruit, mineral, floral hints. Palate is medium bodied, fresh with spicy red-toned fruit, vibrant acidity, elegant, tannins are fine but still firm and perhaps rein in the finish a touch still, suggesting this has a bit more to give. Lovely though.

Decanted 1/2 hr. Medium/deep garnet core, pale garnet rim. Nose is fragrant, with spicy red fruit, floral notes, touch of herb. Medium/full bodied, spicy red cherry fruit, very fine tannins, lovely vibrant acidity, attractive grip and a touch of liquorice on the very good length finish. Excellent, drinking well, no hurry.

Just lovely. Bright, light garnet color showing age. Still red fruits on the nose. Medium-light body; well integrated and long on the palette; clearly older but no too far gone - ouldn't wait much longer. Really enjoy this winery.

nice nose but that is about all that I liked. Very hot and alcoholic with way too much pepper spice for my tastes. Expected WAY more at the price point of this wine. Have had much better brunello for much less money. Drank with a 5 hours decant on day one and it did not get much better with more time. Tried a glass on day two and then poured the remainder out because it just was not very good.

Impressive even in the flushes of youth - serene fruit that has an assured but calm depth. Tea leaf, coconut, red fruits. Extremely fine grained tannins. Some sandalwood, cherries coming through. Already showing some complexity. Will be impressive if left for a few years. Excellent and decent value at £35.

Ruby color , red and dark fruits, full bodied , savory , tannins need to melts more with time , long finish. It will impruve in 2 or 3 years of cellaring.

Terrific stuff. Needs plenty of air or to be left for plenty more time. Has the acid backbone to develop very nicely but was very drinkable even now, after 2 hours in the decanter.

Bright red fruit on nose, sl herbal, broad and spicy. Big crunchy red fruit on mouth, ripping acidity, bright sweet red flourish at the end. Rich. Slightly heavy and alcoholic, but the acidity just balances it. Develops subtle complexity with time but not convincing as a serious wine.

From memory, day one was tight, would have been a mid-high or high 80s score, was completely shut. Day two however it opened up a great deal and was amazing. Day two would have scored 92+ so leaving at 91. Better than Collemattoni Fontelontano Riserva 2006, im drinking now, and while the Campogiovanni 2006 was better, I think this has a chance to be legendary based on how 2/3rds of the bottle showed day two. Decant full 2 hours or try again in 3 to 5 years

Montalcino visit June 2012; 6/8/2012-6/10/2012 (Montalcino): This wine is a good example of the character of the 2006 BdM vintage that I like so much: lots of freshness and great structure. Full aromas of cherry, fresh berries and some cassis and hints of leather. Full bodied with chewy tannins and fresh acidity. A very long and spicy finish. Give it some time to develop. Drink 2015 - 2024.

Friday the 13 (Big Wine Freaks Moscow): 92/100
Not a bad Brunello, but it’s not yet ready. Juicy cherry and red berries, plump, but with quite cheeky tannin.
Good, but far from real greatness.

Molto croccante, sapido e verticale, un buona versione in annata fresca e che mi ha convinto, può riposare tranquillo per una manciata di anni.
