  • Flawed-mildly corked. Odd medicinal taste.

  • My last bottle. This was good but it didn't really develop over 7 years the way I expected. Still a nice but relatively straightforward red Burg. Maybe has actually lost some expressiveness and complexity since my last bottle.

  • This is a fine bottle of wine. The nose - after a day - is still a little off putting, someone referred to "Burgundian funk". That about sums that up. And the front palate shares that, slightly, but it is bracing and explodes into dark fruit, another said cherries, I agree, dark cherries, maybe a restrained prune. Framed, in the glass, by a rich translucent, well, burgundy and silky long legs. Lovely. The bright acid complements the dark fruit leaving a lovely finish, defined more by the acidity than the fruit. I cannot stop sipping. 55F and unique lean fruit. There is a great bottle hidden here, in the mean time, for its price and relative youth, this is killing it. It can't quite make the clubhouse turn and fades by a nose, but what a performance until then. What a performance. I know not what exactly this has left, but right now, it's singing, or should I say, galloping?

  • Nice red fruit (cherry), nice minerality. Nice acidity. Pretty bright
fruit. Minerality, tannins and fruit in finish. Really enjoyable.

  • Bright ruby in color. A bit tight on the nose, but shows some smoky struck flint character and some spicy notes of cinnamon and toasted oak. The sweet pinot fruit is there in the background, with faint raspberry and blueberry pie aromas. With air, the smokiness recedes and it becomes more floral and perfumed. More harmonious on the palate, with the raspberry fruit and the floral spice merging together more smoothly. It’s a little heavy on the oak, though, especially on the finish, just veering a bit more to the vanilla and creme side than I’d like. Good length, and nice silky texture. Light to medium in weight.

This is good stuff. It’s actually a little more closed down than the bottle I had almost two years ago, and it also shows the oak more prominently. But I like the balance, and I think the oak with calm down with some more time in the bottle. I think I’ll save my last one at least another two years.

  • Got the cherry and strawberry, but it was behind a wall of brett and what smelled like nail polish remover. Not like the first bottle.

  • A bit light in color, even for a Burgundy. On the nose it has bright red fruits and a little bit of Burgundy funk. On the palate, it's a a bit thin, but with bright acidity and fresh red fruits. Needs a bit more time to settle down, but it could end up mellowing into something nice.

  • Color: Bright Cherry red, on the bright side even for a Burgundy.

Nose: Crushed Pawpaw leaves (diesel-like) and unbuttered popcorn atop raspberry and strawberry

Palate: Same as the nose, with perfectly balanced acidity and mild tannins. No oak, and no Brett at all (for those who find this important).

This is a delightful, well-crafted, delicate feminine expression of Burgundy. Very nice.

  • Very nice on the nose, but it doesn't quite follow through yet. Still quite enjoyable. Will follow JVG's recommendation and let this rest for a while.

  • Color: Very light ruby magenta. Almost pink at the edge.

Nose: The first impression is a beautiful perfume of fresh juicy red fruit (raspberries, especially), fresh cut flowers, and delicate spice. Then emerging from underneath is a nice touch of smoke, wet earth, leather, and gravel, which keep it from being too sweet. Fabulous nose for such a young wine---already inviting and complex.

Mouthfeel: Light-medium bodied, lively, and bright.

Palate: Initially very acidic, with mouthwateringly tart cranberry and sour cherry flavors. Then slightly sweet floral flavors come through, followed by tobacco leaf, a bit of dust and mineral, and some oak. The finish is tart and juicy, leaving behind cranberry, a hint of raspberry sweetness, and very light tannin.

This showed very well for an infant 2010 1er; the components are all there and it's already expressing itself. It could stand to settle down a bit acidwise, and I think more secondary flavors will emerge after the super-bright fruit recedes slightly, but I don't feel like I wasted it by opening a bottle now. That said, I'm very glad I have two more and won't be opening them any time soon.
