Hmmm.... no classic faults with this wine but I just couldn't embrace it. It was on the lean side (I'm good with that), had decent mid-palate (check), and a long finish (double-check) but overall I'd call this disjointed. I would have another bottle of this before I decide I don't care for it.

Decanted as it was very tight on first pour. Slowly opened up and started off salty, earthy and dry. After about 30 minutes fruit appeared but never in a big way. Bottle disappeared quickly, very good.

Willamette Valley for Memorial day weekend and a peak at 2012; 5/25/2013-5/26/2013: Soft, nice mellow lemon and some spice. Mild oak aroma. Very soft palate entry with mild acids. Pretty lean overall, with soft, pretty mellow white fruits on the palate. Good bit more eruption of really creamy acidity on the finish. Impressively creamy and lush.

Took an hour or two before the fruit fully emerged on the nose, initially it was a gentle with sun-tan lotion, maybe a bit of coconut. Now the nose shows good key lime pie, lemon and apple with saline quality. The palate is gentle on contact, balanced flavors and acidity lend to juicy oranges, peach, and ripe apple as the wine finishes. Very refined feel to this wine, no edges, really well built and balanced. A bit less powerful than I remember this bottling usually being, this one isn't so forward. Overall it's a really nice Chardonnay deserving of it's reserve designation.

Remains creamy, lush and bit flabby but good white fruits and some lemon & orange flavors.

Needs an hour of air to get to the items noted in gripNsip notes below. Not as enamored as it lacked power and was a touch flabby.

Nutty on day two and sweet. And all in all, not that great. Bill says its "serious". So there is room for debate.

Domaine Wine Storage Saturday BYOB (Domaine Wine Storage (Chicago)): Very clean. Funky and earth driven. Minerals and iron ore nose as well.
Great palate. So much green apple but round with maple and some toasty oak. Loved this Chardonnay.
