Lovely warm (although not over-generous) nose of black fruit and old oak. Red cherries just about still discernible on the palate, but fairly light in mouth feel. Bit disappointing in comparison to much older 1987 I had recently which was still holding up very well. Drink the 1999s up soon.

This was a nice surprise. Better than the bottle I had 2.5 years ago. Thought it be on its way down, but no, the nose was fabulous! And, even though it is medium bodied at most, it is not thin or tired. Holding on very well. However, no point waiting any longer either.

Colour is med light red with a hint of brick. Some wet cardboard that disappears with a swirl to show sweet, light cherry. Sweet mature fruit, sft. Quite a change from it's muscular youth. drink up.

The color is dark red with light signs of aging. The nose has medium intensity, is clean and developed, with sweet balanced oak, with red cherry, chocolate and tobacco aromas. The taste is medium body, a bit hallow on the mid palate, with good acidity and earthy red and black cherry. There is a medium finish with a minty bitter-sweet finish. It feels this wine has peaked already. 87 points

Ritch, elegant, leather, tobacco. Long lasting, deep aftertaste. Drink well now. Upea moniulotteinen viini. Muistuttaa makumaailmaltaan hyvää Bordöötä.

Deep red. On the nose dark fruits, mushrooms, leather. On the palate cherries, spices. Not as good as my last bottle about 2 years ago. Finishes a bit short but overall a good bottle of wine and a good pairing with the lamb dish.

Still dark and young-looking. Dry with some dried herbs character. Tannins quite soft and developed. Bordeaux like wine. Elegant. Very good and probably at peak now.

My first '99 in quite a while. Has the typical profile of dark fruit, tobacco and earth but with bigger mocha and some smoke/bacon not always there. Palate and finish a bit disjointed with tart acidity and 'rustic' tannins. May integrate with some time.

A deep ruby red with nice black currant on the nose. This wine was supple and smooth yet had medium to large-body. It presented both power and elegance and reminded me why I pursued Spanish wines after all. This was the first one that caught my eye, nose and tongue. A great wine that was a wonderful treat to enjoy.

Starting to show its age. Still, a quite nice wine, with dusty tannins, meat, earthiness (on the nose and mouth). Dark fruit is there in the background.

Deep red color, sweet nose of plum, black fruits, bacon. Tannins are well integrated with mushrooms, back fruit jam. Mid to long finish. This is at its prime and should still be kicking for a few more years. Excellent.

1998 Pesquera Tinto Crianza (at Solo Restaurant, Goosnargh, about £20) Good colour. Very interesting nose with fruit, earthiness, mushrooms and a hint of vanilla. Good restrained fruit on palate, but seems a bit lacking somewhere. Possibly a slight tendency to weediness. Fair.

J&L: nice red color; did not pick much up from nose--may hve been closed up, a little young; notes of leather, subtle generic fruit. Great mouth feel, even balanced.***Disappointed, maybe too young.

Every single time I have tasted this I like it more. I’m not sure what that speaks to, but I don’t mind. Dried cherries, oak and soft tannins accompany the nose of blueberries, crushed violets, mocha, and earth.

This wine is made by the famous Alejandro Fernandez. Many say that the wine has been going downhill in recent years but I found this bottle to be rather tasty. Dark color. It had sharp fruit notes of plum, cherry and spice. Nice smooth finish. Will improve with some short cellar time. 89-90.

Earthy, barnyardy. Soft pinot-like fruit in the nose. Ripe, dark fruit in the mouth. Short finish, as it is getting tired.

Agree with last note. This is cherry/leather/tobacco in character and structurally ready to drink but will last a few years yet.

Deep ruby, out to rim; jammy, one dimensional; opulent, thick mouth-filling, blackcurrant, touch of vanillin oak; powerful, yet to peak. 16.
Remains dark; merlot-like, exuberant, toffeed, blackcurrants, flattering; soft, lush, lacks structure; finish fades quickly. Drink soon. score 14 just.
