Drinkable, but a little over aged. Probably, in its good times, was an excellent Chianti. This wine , for my taste , should be drank not after 10 years old.

Twelve years old but still many years of life ahead! Some bricking but this wine smells and feels like a much younger wine.
Very aromatic nose of sour black cherry, herbs (oregano), worn saddle leather and tobacco leaf.
In the mouth this is a huge, full-bodied wine. Roaring tannins that feel more like a young Cabernet than an aged Chianti, mouth-watering acidity and integrated but present alcohol.
Flavours of black fruit, cherry, plum, cedar, chocolate and spice.
Tannic, spicy, cherry finish

Decated for an hour, drank over another hour. It was outstanding! Tannins have soften up to a perfect state, they're still there. While being a dry wine, it does have a good acidity to it. Full body and good intensity. Notes of black cherry, dried herbs, blackberry, cedar, leather, earthiness, licorice and balsamic vinegar. There's a meaty side to this wine. All in all, very nice complexity and very well balanced. This is in a perfect place and should definitely be decanted.
Lots to like, but a bit of a strange tension between the aged secondary notes and the still-very-present primary ones. Tasted as if someone had poured a cup of Beaujolais nouveau into a 12yo Brunello. Evened out quite a bit on day 2, with primary notes fading and butterscotch emerging on the finish. Probably best with a 2+ hour decant.

Decanted for an hour. This was just singing, beautiful notes of violets and red cherry with a hint of barnyard on the nose. Initially a bit restrained on the palate, but with food and more air, the fruit came out, good red cherry and a good dose of tannins. In a very nice spot now, but could take a few more years in the cellar easily.

At first, I was a bit down on this wine, but it needed a little time to open up. Once it does, it displays classic Sangio flavors with sour cherry, leather, and herbs. It does display a little mid-palate plushness and sweetness that is mildly disconcerting, and the finish shows a little more oak than I'd like. Still, very good with food after it opens, and it will probably be better if you give it a few more years.

Tasted over two evenings. Deep ruby red colour. Interesting, savoury nose, some spice, Provencal herbs, underbrush and tobacco. Also, bouquet of raspberry, red cherry, with a little animale, perhaps grilled game meat and a slightly green element, suggesting bell pepper. On the palate, on the leaner side, with nice bright acids. A good food wine. Sufficient ripeness with nice tartness, flavours of cherries, cranberry, with savoury flavours of tobacco, herbs and underbrush. Good fine grained tannins and dry extract, oak present but well integrated. Also, good structure and length, finishing on pure, mineral flavours. In its drinking window now, but 10-15 years to go, easily. Sangiovese 90%, Cabernet Sauvignon 10%, aged for a year in French and Hungarian oak. Notwithstanding the Cabernet component, a fairly traditional Chianti Classico. Tasty!

PNp. dark ruby. develops nicely over time in the glass, aromas open up and reveal classical notes from this bottling. Good sangiovese notes of red and dark red cherry, ambient spices. Cabernet character showing through alot in this vintage, cool green bell pepper, tobacco leaf, bay leaf, herbs. Palate is velvety and smooth on the attack with dark red berry fruit infused with tobacco notes and leather fleshing out on the midpalate and the finish is medium long with red cherry and plums. Tannins are there with good grip providing structure but acidity is already quite smoothened out. probably not a long lasting vintage but good now and probably the next 5-7 years well. More modern in style than the 06 and 09 vintages but i am not having trouble locating the tuscan feel in this wine. Nice.

10 months after my last tasting, this wine is not getting any better. Lack of fruit and body. Not sure if this will ever get any better. Disappointing for a wine that is generally very consistent vintage to vintage.
This was decanted. Dark plum and dark cherry aroma. Taste is not earthy or red fruit. Taste is semi sweet but not too dry. Taste is not too acidic. Finish is quite long. The mid palate does not dip, but it is not too different from the finish.

pnp. Had at a restaurant with lasagna. Pale ruby. Sour cherry, some liquorice and spice and some vegetal notes on the finish. Medium minus acidity, medium tannins and short finish. A very dull wine that I didn't really enjoy at all. I thought that it just needed time to open up but even after an hour there wasn't much improvement and it tasted like red water. I don't see this improving and if anything I suppose decant it to see if it opens up after a few hours.

Open 24 hours: Smells like dark cherries and plums crushed onto hot, fresh asphalt. Really quite smooth and easy to drink today, I remember the structure being a bit overpowering yesterday. Dark fruit flavors show initially leading into bright acids on the finish. Nice body and persistence, as I take more sips the tannins build and build. Less stones and tar than I got on the nose, the fruit is easily the initial flavor currently. Overall a really nice wine. Drinking better a day later than as a PnP, so if you plan on drinking it soon I would suggest decanting it.

Good color. The nose shows ripe red berries, cedar, tobacco, a hint of flowers, oak, and earth. On the palate, this is medium full bodied with good concentration and good finesse. The acidity is fairly high, and the tannins are mostly civilised. A good wine, that finishes long and fairly bright.

Had this at an Antinori wine tasting where we went thru the Peppini, Villa, Marches, Badaia Chiantis and Tignanello. All were wonderful wines in their own way and I have a soft spot for classic Tuscan wines. Decided to pop and splash decant the Marchese with the wife as she patiently waited for me to arrive home after the tasting. Earth, raspberries, sour cherry and enough acidity that of course went well with a simple dinner of pasta and sauce.

Crimson in colour. Tightly coiled nose with aromatics of both red and dark fruits. On the palate it is very approachable with smooth tannins, and an elegance to the layers of fruit, ending in spice and tobacco. It is already drinking well while retaining acidity and structure to last another 7-10 years. Compared to the 2007 the fruit is much more evident and layered, as the 2008 is far less tannic overall, and instead much more elegant. Submissive, seductive and velvety fruit caresses in the mouth and on the fairly long finish. loads of cabernet character. Really great showing.

Smooth as a baby's bottom. Hint of wood, medium body, refined tannin.

Dark bluered colour.
On the nose there's a youthful tone of cherry, moulder leaf, Earth and herbs.
The palate is austere of cherry and with a nice and long finish.
Developes very nicely in the glass during several hours, showing good potential cellaring.

ChTR kokous 27.02.2013 (SKO-toimisto): Had a quick taste of this, my impression was of a very nice wine with acidity, tannins and fruit in place. Very nice!

It takes about an hour to open so don't judge it if popped and poured immediately. Give it some time to breathe and you'll enjoy it.

After having drank many '06 this was a big disappointment. Has a wonderful nose but the taste is too tannic. To properly grade this wine it needs at least 2-3 more years.

Smooth, not too fruity. Tobacco and chocolate. A bit leathery.

Wine Bloggers Conference- random wines tasted (Portland, OR): Red cherry, herb, cracked black pepper and earth on the nose. A myriad of flavors on the palate with rocky mineral, black cherry, violets and baked earth. Beautifully elegant and complex. Grippy with great acid and fine tannins. Medium+ finish.
