- Ruby color with medium forming legs and aromas of raspberry and mushroom. It's balanced and has flavours of raspberry with a medium body. Silky texture with a medium finish - @ River Oyster Bar. Decanted for 45 minutes in afternoon. Much bettervthan 4 years ago. Slightly acidic.

this was a great bottle of pinot. drank without food and it was humming. lots of red fruit on the nose - raspberry, strawberry and some prune. the nose was very wonderful and one of the better pinots i have smelled in a while. the wine itself was up to par with the nose. nice finish and really nice mouthfeel. i am looking forward to drinking more of this wine. it seems like a good time to be drinking it.

Very drinkable and delicious, much more balanced than the 2003, and not showing any sign of early blow out that many fruit forward pinots suffer. I'll drink more happily, although not try to share it with my finest meals--serves much better around the fireplace at night.

Obviously very new world, but also very tasty. Beautiful bright red color to it with a nose of really bright cherries, a very distinct raspberry and what seemed a bit like cream soda. Although not in the 'traditional' style of Pinot, this was just perfect for the occasion and everyone (Wine geeks and regular humans) seemed to enjoy this. Big pinot, where the flavors on the palate mirrored the nose. Finish was in balance and the bottle was emptied in a very short time.

Read about this yesterday in Lettie Teague's BYOB article in Food & Wine, when the Wine Director at Charlie Palmer Steak, indicated A BYOB patron wowed her with this wine. I spotted this while shopping forSalmon steaks at Laurenzo's, and grabbed 2. After transit, immediately decanted. Opened up nicely after an hour. Good nose, midweight PN flavors, similar to Kosta Browne 04 RRV, or an aromatic Cote de Beaune. Expect secondary, and tertiary devolpment over the next few years.

Nose of asian spice and tart cherry. Great viscous legs with a blood orange coloring. Black cherry with a hint of cinnamon and a finish of cola. The cola is very distinctive.

Immediately upon pouring, Amour Fou appeared deep, intense, and purely hedonistic. Long voluptuous legs and velvety body emit a rich bouquet of sweet cola, ripe cherries, spice and cedar that left nothing to the imagination. On my palate, sensuous black cherry and black plum effortlessly tore away my inhibitions with indulgent depth of fruit evolving into a lengthy caressing finish of spicy blackberry. Despite the sinful weight of Amou Fou, the wine remains elegant and balanced with gorgeous subtle acid structure and juicy tannins peeking through the luxurious layers of Pinot Noir. This is one encounter I could never forget...

Blind Tasting Pinots with K (Blind tasting of Pinots in the corner penthouse overlooking downtown Dallas): Tasted blind--very fruity aromas that inidicated more of a new world wine, likely California. But, it the fruit flavors where mixed with some funky characteristics, with a bit of earth mixed in, which I like, and thought added needed complexity. After the unveiling, discovered a cool label that could be read as the wine was consumed. Interesting winery: The 2004 Amour Fou is 100% Pinot Noir. A majority (53%) of the fruit comes from the inaugural harvest of the D. Giovanetti Vineyard, which is in Green Valley, a cool sub-appellation of the Russian River Valley. This vineyard is a monopole for Red Car. We expect great things from this site. In the future it may become our first vineyard designated pinot. The remainder (47%) of the fruit is from two clones (828 and 777) of the Sleeping Beauty Vineyard, which is owned and farmed by George Martinelli.

Served at Xmas dinner and the crowd enjoyed the fruit forward cherry red flavor as we blew through three bottles with various appetizers. My own thoughts were that the wine was a fun drink but I am not gong to buy any more. I have one more bottle left.

Can we all say together F-R-U-I-T B-O-M-B? This is it. Very drinkable and a lot of fun but it would not be anyone's guess for PN in a blind tasting. Does that make it bad? Not at all. A very good wine. But not one I will buy again.

Intense, but very enjoyable, hedonistic. Obviously too young, so I'll hold final judgement. Drank half the bottle the first day, then forgot it until the second day. Still good, but not better than the first night.

Good nose but a slight metallic finish, otherwise a very nice and pleasant bottle.
