From memory. The mark of a really good wine: Each time I started to type this note, the flavor morphed. PnP. No detailed notes. Medium dense color and body; i.e., light for a Turley. Cranberry. Tart cherry. Anise. Spice. On the earthy side. Drinking well.

Honestly not getting much of a nose on this one, maybe a bit of alcohol burn. Palate comes off as very acidic and tangy. Alcoholic. Wil be good to pair with certain foods that need both Zinfandel boldness to compliment the course and a syrah's acidity to break it apart. I drank this with some tri-tip and it was a very good combination.

Drinking well at the moment, but I preferred the slightly more elegant 2011 Duarte bottling. This did have the Turley spice going on and was not over the top and porty like this bottling can be in hotter years.

Purchased upon release and cellared in pristine fashion, this opaque red/garnet wine was decanted off of its substantial sediment and serially tasted over the ensuing three hours. Not revealing much during the first hour, it subsequently unfurls an impressive bouquet of black raspberries, lavender, orange zest and underbrush. Full-bodied, fresh, softly oaked and with gorgeous purity of fruit, it delivers a flavor payload mirroring the nose. I'm baffled at how this can be the case, but there is no heat from the wine's lofty 16.1% alcohol when served at the appropriate temperature of 60-65°F. Beautifully dense on the mid-palate and finishing long, this is a stellar Zinfandel that is in its sweet spot. At this point in its evolution, it is very important to decant it off of its sediment and give it plenty of aeration. Drink now-2020.

Brought up to the lake house by Greg who's been on the Turley list for a while and this was one of the better bottles I have had the pleasure to share with him and Maureen. It grabbed me from the first sip, long, long finish with complex notes beyond the fruit.

Sweet red fruit mixed with the essence of black tea. It's become almost too sweet over time. Definitely need grilled or BBQ meat (something gamey) in order to cut this wine down to size.

Brambly, floral and a bit of pencil eraser on the nose. Immediate tangy burst of flavor with floral, spice (sage and thyme) & a bit of milk chocolate all evolving and not getting in each others way. Very little heat on a long smooth finish. Decanted about 30 min and did not notice marked improvement over the next 90 min or so.

Wow this is very different from the bottle we had just last April. Something wrong here? The cork was fine, but the wine has absolutely no fruit, very dry, hot. Nose is a little stale, pretty good on the palate, long hot finish. Have two more bottles so we'll have to see how they go :-/

Tight and monolithic upon opening from cellar temp, so don’t even think about PnP’ing this. BIG juicy brambly fruit, still high acidity, pepper on the nose (but little on the palate), big spice, dried herbs, espresso with an orange twist. Still hiding it’s 16.2abv very well. I loved this upon release and found it much more interesting two+ years ago (94pts-unposted; 6 bottles consumed then). It’s youthful energy is toning down slightly and it's a pleasure to drink, but I can’t say that it’s improving. Either hurry and drink yesterday or wait 2+ years and see if it settles into something deeper.

This is why I like the Central Coast Turleys. They taste like the 1990's Turleys, full of pepper and "Zin-iness" Glad I kept buying this one, we still have the next couple of vintages in the cellar.

Popped and poured: starts sweet...but after an hour opens up nicely to full rich mouthfeel, cedar wood spice, fruit forward raisin, fig. Excellent Zin - but give it some time to breathe.

Earth, floral and spice on the nose. Black cherry, sandalwood and a touch of spice on the palate. Soft, alluring and exotic at this point. Can't imagine it getting much better with time because it is so good now. Faded fairly quickly. Drink up.

Drank this the same week as the Presenti vineyard zin of the same vintage. This one is not as balanced. More an all-jam-all-the-time kind of Zin. Really in your face. Great if you like that kind of thing, but I'd have preferred some added dimensions.

Rounding out a Turley weekend. Delicious when opened with deep red fruits, spicy elements and framed by cedar and oak. However, with time in the glass (2 hours) it becomes sharper and the acids come to the surface, making this less and less food friendly. Overall, a good offering, but not up to previous Dusi's.
