Monthly Tuesday group #008: Southern Rhône White. (By PV): In the bouquet yellow tropical fruits, hay, vanilla and some smoke. On the palate a high viscosity with yellow fruits like peach, ripe yellow apple and banana. Some herbs, mild citrus and pleasant bitterness in the finish. Really nice wine with a good length.

Nose: On the initial attack, a funky butter barnyard. This was soon followed by citrus, cream, lemongrass, vanilla, limestone, chalk and overall mineral notes. On the secondary aromas, there were hints of banana, nectarine peel and toast.
Palette: Lemon cream(great texture), spice, custard and mineral/limestone. Lingered a good deal on the finish.
Overall: Really like this wine. Good combination of primary mineral and secondary fruit, with good creaminess and silky texture.

Very clean, elegant palate of stone fruits, pear, and a lot of mineral/stone. Very slightly marked by the alcohol -- I'd rate higher without the heat. Drink up.

Nice enough, a little tropical fruit, a little spice, good mouthfeel. It does not seem to be inline with the price, as is typical for white Rhone wines.

This beautiful white obtained from low yields of 35hL per hectare is a blend of many varietals, including Grenache (30%), 10% of each Viognier, Roussanne, Marsanne, Picpoul, 20% of Clairette, and some other varietals. It offers a beautiful, strong, profile with a structured, complex mouth displaying lime, citrus, and grapefruit. Not as penetrating as the Condrieu, it still is a very nice wine, which can substitute a good share of the young white Chateauneuf du Papes for half the price.

Although a bit overpriced, this is a really nicely structured white wine. Two, maybe three layers, a hint of eco-minerals and soft ending.

Overtly peachy nose; mineral, concentrated then falls away fast. Pear drops?
