Final bottle and still drinking well, and my assertion in 2021 that it needed drinking up then clearly wrong! Still some primary dark fruit flavours with figs, prunes and earth. An enjoyable association, a few bottles of the 2009 left!

Fullbodied, powerful wine. Dark color, fruity and sweet nose. Bouquet of dark cherries, blackberries, vanilla, cedar, balsamic notes. Well balanced, silky and medium to long finish with a wonderful sweetness. I believe the wine has many more years ahead (it seems to be a very different bottle from the one of Mr. Gutierrez in 2014…)

Penultimate bottle. Similar comments to last year, although enjoyed this more. Still some primary dark fruits present. I’m struggling with this as I keep changing my opinion! Tasting it today I would give it another couple of years drinking after saying that it needed drinking up. I will save the last bottle for 2023….

Cork disintegrated when opening, but wine not corked. Deep garnet. Brambles, blackberry nose. Similar palate with leather, dried fruits, forest floor. Didn’t enjoy this as much as last year and I think it needs drinking up (have said it before!) Drank the 2009 recently which was far better.

Virtual Bordeaux Blends (Online): Poured into jars at 4:30pm, drank a small glass at 7pm and over 3 hours. One of several wines tonight that should have been decanted. Cherries and fruit, quite tannic, astringent and slightly sharp. Still, it managed to be my 3rd favorite and improved with air time, with tobacco and earth.

Having said I thought this needed drinking up a couple of months ago, I thought should work on drinking the last few bottles in the cellar. However, I was wrong, this is actually still drinking well and has a few years of life left in it. Maybe something not quite right with previous bottle, but this is drinking really well. Revisit next year.

What a delicious wine, my very first unicorn! Very deep garnet, gret rim variation, aromas of mushroom, irt, syrup, tobacco, medium acidity, medium plus body, violet cigar box, wood shavings, super ripe black fruit. Heavy bodied but provides freshness and finesse.

Decanted 1/2 hour and drank initially when opened, over the next 1.5 hours, plus a small glass the next morning (~15 hrs after opening). This is a very nice wine and has the stuffing to last longer than the cellar tracker window. I would say it is in its prime drinking window now, and will remain there for another three to five years at least, and perhaps offer some tertiary flavors for another five years or so after that....not bad for a $40 wine! Of some note, there was no sediment when decanted.
The wine is definitely new world, but not as fruity/jammy as most new world wines. The color is still a vibrant dark burgundy to purple with very little bricking. The nose was perfumed, with a little alcohol initially that blew off fairly quickly. There were also notes of blueberry and cherry on the nose with some spice and earth. On the palate, it was mostly black and red fruit with a touch of cedar and a little funk, then some notes of earth and granite. The full mouth-feel showed tannins were rounded and smooth, but definitely present. The finish was short and slightly lacking, or I would have scored this a point a two higher. The fruit remained in the foreground all night and the next morning. I didn't find much of an evolution, just a little melding of flavors and a very slight fading of what was there. An excellent QPR, IMO. Drink or hold.

This has improved in the last 18 months. Great balance now, stronger nose, softer yet still somewhat firm mouthfeel and nice length. Don‘t think I could place it within 10 000 km if tasted blind.

Really impressed with this which is in a perfect spot right now. It was so well balanced - real depth from the Malbec but almost elegant. Delicious with Lamb rack

I do love this wine. It's intense, with heavy fruit and some earthy tones nicely woven into. But... I don't know if it's the stage of development the vintage is in, but there was a boring touch to this bottle. It was a bit one dimensional. Nice and all, but I was hoping for a stronger kick. Maybe I should leave my remaining bottles for a while.

Tried this again. Can't understand the RP 87 and "drink it up as quickly as you can". Bonkers. Maybe a dodgy bottle. This is seriously good wine that will last for several more years imho.

Good nose, nice combination of rich, perfectly ripe fruit and spicy classy oak; polished and refined on the palate, shows a little youth on the finish, the acidity and tannins a bit to the fore at present. Lay this one down for 5 years or so.

SOBEWFF '15 Domaines Barons de Rothschild. This wine really held its own against Evangile and Duhart Milon. Dark garnet. Bouquet is perfumed with flowers and a touch of spice, subtle graphite, red currants. The palate is elegant and the tannins are plush with a smooth finish. Bravo!

The 2010 Bodegas Caro begins with strong and pleasant violet aromas when first opened and then turn into smoky, gamy notes plus some blackberry and spice. The more time it has to breath, the more the fruit comes out. It makes for quite an interesting evolution of the aromas on this wine. The wine tastes of dark fruit and has earthy tannins and a little spice. A bit of the smoky and gaminess from the nose carries over as well. The dry finish has a little spice and lingering cocoa notes. Pretty good by itself, but would be really good with a steak. This wine definitely needs lots of air to fully open up and was at its best on the second day.
