  • It keeps getting better. Decanted 1 hr. ahead off of a bit of sediment. Very nice nose of green herbs, plums, a hint of mint, earthy notes, cedar. Medium-bodied and lithe on the palate, smoothed-out from bottle age but still with round red fruit. This is California after all. Finishes well with light tannins. One of the great successes of my cellar.

  • A total sleeper. Decanted 1 hr. ahead off of a bit of sediment. Very deep garnet with the barest hint of brick. Very nice nose of blackberries and herbs. Rich, long, and full on the palate, with excellent structure over red fruits and spices. Long finish, drying with still lively tannins and red cherry notes. I'm glad I still have some more of this because it still has a ways to go.

  • Reasonable for a weekday wine, a bit of too much after bite

  • Decanted 45 mins. ahead. Nice black cherry color with purple tones. Interesting spicy nose, with black pepper, white pepper, and cherry notes. Lively and elegant on the palate, full of supple and seductive fruit, balanced by tobacco and cedar flavors. Acid balance is juicy and rich. Finishes well with another blast of dark cherry fruit and moderately full tannins. Technically speaking, this is one very nice bottle of juice. The Cab/Syrah blend is still rare in CA (l'Aventure among a few others) but this wine (and that one) show its potential. It drinks a bit like a Petite Sirah right now, with attractive fruit and lively tannins, but it could also take some years in the bottle. I wish I had more.
