Medium yellow, faint amber color. Initially fragrant nose but after an hour or more calmed down to a pear compote. Slightly sweet finish with minimal residual acidity. Very soft with a pleasant suave finish. Fun to drink and great with moderately spicy Asian food. A pleasure but not great enough to earn really high marks.

Rich and intense nose of honey, tropical fruit, citrus, and apricot. Good acidity with more honey, papaya, orange, and mineral flavors on the palate. Very ripe with noticeable residual sugar, surprisingly high for a “dry” Smaragd. Long finish. Excellent wine, although super ripe.

Rich, creamy, bees wax, but more so honey bright acidity, great length. A point now, I think, although it will keep - and maybe turn darker, sweeter. #Birthday#SøllerødKro

Superbe Gruner. Beaucoup de fruits, nectarine, poires et pamplemouse avec un petit fond de miel. Hyper précis et frais avec une belle précision et une très longue finale bien juteuse et salivante. Excellent.

Grüner Veltliner & Super Tuscan Tasting (Restaurant Vineum, Rotterdam, NL): Tasted blind. Full yellow colour with a hint of gold; deep and mature nose, white pepper, freshness; richly fruited, concentrated and big but also floral and playful, lovely balance and tension, relatively precise finish, very good length.

Grüner Veltliner & Super-Tuscans @ VINEUM (Vineum, Rotterdam): Tasted blind @ VINEUM. I guessed this wine correctly, it was served as the last wine in the last flight of the Grüner Veltliner theme this afternoon. The riches expression of all the GV's today. Such a unique wine, should probably drink this more often seeing at it's still pretty affordable giving it is the best GV money can buy? Not counting Knoll's TBA GV that is...

Small tasting glass @ VINEUM during service, so a brief note. One of my last bottles of this 2012 vintage...Luckily already bought some 2013 and 2017 as well. This is a fat expression of GV, really rich and exotic and a great food wine!

White peach and honeysuckle on the nose. On the palate, grapefruit citrus, pear and peach, tangerine, and an interesting combination of saline and green notes on the medium to long finish, with sweetness perfectly balanced against acidity. Although I feared that I would find this overly sweet, the sugar content was almost unnoticeable. This is one of the most expensive Gruner Veltliners, but the quality justifies the price. Excellent, and a good to very good value at under $70.

Not sure what to make of this. The bottle, fill and cork were all excellent. Wine is light color with no suggestion of oxidation. Lovely exotic nose, but very bitter and unbalanced taste. Not much change over a few hours except it seemed to close up more. Not good with Thanksgiving fare. Will need to try this with more bottle age and better food match.

Hat nicht die Kraft und Intensität des am Vorabend getrunken Axpoint. Immer wierder stelle ich fest, der Axpoint liegt mir sehr viel mehr. Trotzdem ein toller Wein, mineralisch, klar, super geschliffen.

Glass: Zalto Burgundy Clear, medium golden color. Intense nose, lots of salty minerals, ripe yellow fruit. Dry, with some remarkable amount of residual sugar, which in combination with the rather high abv makes this wine quite "baroque", but in a positive way. Goes very well with typical Austrian food. Complex, creamy, mouthcoating. Ripe yellow fruit, salty minerality and the typical black pepper notes. Long, lingering finish. Drinkable now with lots of air, but will certainly improve over the next 5+ years. Great wine!

Rich and concentrated wine, sweet nose, honey caramel, exotic fruit. Taste is powerful and rich, really beautifull wine. Maybe I would like to see more acid for little more freshness. Heavyweight wine :)

Mike Grammer Comes to Town - KS version (Ripple Restaurant in DC): This is so primary that it tastes like incredibly delicious grape juice. Intense fruit driven nose of white peach, lychee, acacia, orange rind, honey, spicy spices and mineral. Exceptional concentration, rich oily palate, great balance coming from mineral expression. Impressive wine.

Very rich expressive nose. Honeyed, layered with pear, carmel and stone with hints of white pepper. Clean rich entry thats nicely mouthcoating followed by a long, nicely balanced finish that is almost seemless. This is really beautiful

Overwhelming nose with sweetness and ripe fruit. Lots of spices, full bodied, warm and length, sufficient acidity. As always a fantastic wine.
