This continues to develop nicely. Good fruit, medium bodied, quite long. Energetic decant about 2 hours before dinner. Very satisfying. Last bottle coming up, then on to the ‘09.

Decanted 2.5 hours before dinner, next time a little more. Very little nose, but plenty of fruit once it opened up over the course of the evening. Not big, but well put together. Nice!

2008 IL MARRONETO BRUNELLO di MONTALCINO- 100% Sangiovese; immediately there`s a hit of nice spicy, leather inundated red cherry and red raspberry which is joined later on by a generous amount of licorice and leather cranberry fruit; it had such a great start and then the finish is quite mysterious in that everything dissipates and a very strange compound appears and leaves something other than a good impression.

Nose: The nose is ethereal, perfumes, and savory with red cherries, roasted herbs, earth notes, raspberries, pipe tobacco, and a touch of worn leather. There is a nuanced quality to the nose with some nice layering as well.
Taste: Medium bodied with medium/high acidity and medium+ tannins. There is a silkiness to the tannins and the feel along with red cherries, worn leather, pipe tobacco, raspberries, and a touch of roasted herbs.
Overall: A dead sexy Il Marronteto. It's balanced and nuanced that shows off the elegant side of Sangiovese. This is lovely stuff that is drinking beautifully right now.

Clear, ruby red, pink-white rim, evenly spaced thick tears. Clean, med+ intensity, aromas of sour cherries, rhubarb, tobacco, slight red licorice and newly tanned leather. Dry, med- body, med acidity, med+ tannins, med- alcohol, nice balance and complexity. Further tastes of orange, puer tea, red currants, burnt almonds, cigar ash, with a long finish.
