  • This wine is sort of in an in between stage. Drank over 2 days and the second day was significantly better. Not that day one was bad.
Opened for about 2 hours prior to pouring and then about 45 minutes in the glass, it was all red cherry and plum. Maybe too much so for my taste. The tannins were resolved but the acidity was a little in your face. The finish was another story. Rich and luxurious, the finish went on for minutes. Blueberry, licorice, cedar, spices, and a host of other flavors just cycled through. Exceptional.
By the second day, the front of the wine all came together. The fruit was still there but now completely integrated into an elegant wine with an extremely long and satisfying finish. Remarkable wine.
I will wait a year or two for my remaining bottles. But a long decant would work.

Once again the 2011 vintage in Napa, has shown to be a lovely and elegant with nuanced secondary flavors. Early to mature, it is something to enjoy while you wait for other bottles to age.

  • I am not going to rate this one as I do not think I have it a fair chance. It was wound so tight on the first night, even after 4 hours. The second night it seemed to be just starting to open up. I would think that this needs years 5+ in the bottle of an entire day of Slow ox.

  • Evolving nicely.

  • For me this is one of the best Favia wines I have tasted at this time in its life. It is little tight with a short finish out of the bottle but over 4-5 hours it begins to develop. You can really taste how the finish lengthens and the wines develops a chewy chalkiness that I like on my cabs. I think this could go even higher over the next few years.

  • After a 4 hour decant it started opening up nicely. This should be amazing in 2 years. I'll save my remaining 5 bottles for later, too young.
