Dark purple color, nose of dark fruits. Palate is blackberry, earth, leather, very recognizable as mature Bordeaux. Drinking ell now, enjoy over the next 2-3 yeaars.

Cowhorn, Rhys, some Italians, ++ (Pronzo's): This is drinking quite well, and I am sure must be at peak. Purple in color. The nose has dark cherries and dark chocolate. Medium bodied. Not much complexity with not noticeable tannins. Good cherry fruit though. A bit of acidity which works well with food. My wife, who has new world tastes really enjoyed it. I found it simple but enjoyable. At this age, I would have either expected complexity or falling apart, this was neither. Still, I would drink these up.

Tasting at Chateau Gallo (Chateau Gallo): The second blind of the afternoon, pulled by Joe Gallo. Murky garnet in colour, with some bricking at the rim. This one had a nose of dark fruits, plums, truffle, spice, undergrowth, chocolate, cigar box and a green streak, characterized by green tobacco and celery. This prompted a lengthy discussion on pyrazine. On the palate, dark red fruits, spice, earth and leather, with fully integrated tannin, and a decent amount of acidity. I had some sediment in my glass, so I gathered that this had some age on it, although I was headed to Italy with my guess, due to the higher than normal acidity for Bordeaux.

mixed it with a ten dollar merlot, made it drinkable. On its own, just flat, musty dirt, tart, no pleasure, I wanted to dump it but the wife objected, thus the blend.

This was nothing like the other bottle that I had a few weeks back. This one was green and quite astringent.....no where near the 94 point bottle. I did a quick decant and thought maybe it just needed more air but no luck....still quite pleasureable but a let down given the expectation

From memory... Full bodied with noticeable but resolving smooth tannins. Nice black cherry fruit profile with a balancing dose of acid. Drinking well right now.
