dark red with sl brick rim, no orange - captivating nose of dark red fruit with undertones of leather and earthiness - big ripe fruit mouth presence with well integrated acid and tannin - medium length 10-15 sec finish - tasted alongside the 2009 San Roman, which was tighter and more structured, while the 2010 was more forward, open and approachable now - will easily last another 5-10 years, and I would predict even more complex flavor development (and a higher score!)

Holidays 2018 (Dogwood Grove): I decided to lead off with this wine because it always exudes class and not everyone is familiar with Toro wines, so it provided an opportunity for education. And the bottle showed well. Powerful elegance. Think fine Bordeaux with a hint of savory Spain. Strong notes of black fruits and wooden box. The wine is well structured and integrated but still shows grippy tannins. Drinks classy enough that it could be mistaken for a modern Bordeaux. Alas, it perhaps didn't stand up to some more pedigreed wines in the tasting.

Lots of holiday cheer in this bottle/wine. No further improvement relative to my last tasting in 5/2017. Fairly ripe and modern style (too much to my taste) but with nearly sufficient acidity and tannins to balance it out. Benefits from a brief decanting. Drink up soon, by 2019-2020 at the latest.

Appears to be at its peak and is likely to stay that way for several years. Relatively ripe but with balanced acidity and strong tannins. Good finish. Lots of dark berries on the palate.

Dark inky purple, opaque. Lifted dark berries, vanilla, anise, toasted oak, wet soil. Brooding dark fruits, silky layered mouthful, full on the attack through the mid and long finish. This is well balanced, fruit and tannins are nicely integrated and nice acid. Ripe in style, a lot of sediment. Nose comes through the palate w/ darker berries, blue berries, earth, cassis, currants, raisins.

A nose of dark fruit and dark coffee, dark purple in color. A full bodied very young red, with blackberry, black cherry, black currants, chocolate and spice on long finish. Needs a good decant, still a baby but was very good. www.winelx.com

Vibrant, full-bodied combination of power and elegance. Subtle tannins of just ripened blackberries. A blockbuster on the palate, we think this wine may show better circa 2020 when some of the weight of the fruits harmonize with all the other elements. Having said that, a lot of fruit-fantastic fun at a very good QPR.

Enjoyed more than the last bottle. Smooth an velvety. Very rich fruit for sure. Dark berry and spice on the finish. At $30 it's quite good. Less so if you pay full retail.

Vindredi (Spanish Riojas, plus...) (Bellevue, WA): Tasted blind. Smoky, spicy nose mixed with dark fruit. More black fruit and spice on the body, which is on the lighter side considering the density. Finishes with soft tannin and good acidity.

(Wine Society Tasting, Lords) :: Tightly packed but good complexity developing. Shows ample fruit spectrum but with solid mineral / soil backbone. It is a touch thin/disjointed on the palate, with granular tannins. Needs to come together better. Let it lie for 5+ years.

Excellent potential, reminded me of the 2006 vintage that tasted terrific in 2014. This wine tasted young, with energetic tannins, but still enjoyable (although crying for a few more years of cellaring). It has great fruit that comes through after some decanting. Plenty of balanced acidity. In a couple of years, this will beat many of the more expensive Napa cabs. Terrific value, overall. (My score reflects how the wine tastes now, it can easily be 93-94+ points with time.)

This impressed me a lot more than my last bottle. I found my first bottle too sweet with cassis dominating the nose and palate but this was much more elegant and smooth. Without doubt this is a sleeper of a wine that flies under the radar. Buy with confidence

This wine really caught me by surprise! After trying 2001 few years earlier, I was not really sure what to expect at this stage of this 2010. Bouquet of the wine is astonishing. On the palate it's soft with good tannin structure. This may not be the most complex wine out there, but it's really a pleasure to drink.

A full bodied and intense wine that is a deep and dark red in the glass. Highly concentrated with lots of power. Dark fruits, cassis, sweet currants and chocolate dominate the wine but give this a few more years and the layers of complexity will develop. At this stage in its life it is highly tannic and the cassis/currants are too sweet for my liking, preventing a higher score, so best from 2017+ if you can wait for it to settle down and integrate.
I drank the 2007 about 6 weeks beforehand and that was superb (93pts) with an abundance of vanilla and a much lower sense of sweetness, so hopeful this could reach those heights with the same age (8 years from vintage) if the sweetness does subside.

On a wine and tapas tour in Madrid, great evening with a fantastic host...
One of the more interesting wines of the evening. prior winemaker from Vega Sicilia (Mariano Garcia) is the winemaker here.
Dense purple/inky color. Ripe blue and black fruits. Floral notes, lavender and violets. Palate repeats with blueberry pie, vanilla oak, anise and baking spice. Full bodied wine, mouth coating texture.
Very decidedly a new world style, so not for everyone. Still young, my guess is it adds complexity with age and as the oak integrates.

polished medium - full bodied wine, not overly complex, focused on the oak and fruit at this point. but should age well.. seems to be a bit disjointed with that strong new oak and on the other hand, raspberry gelee scent.
posh oak, mouth coating, sweet, not just power but elegance! very seductive, surprisingly nice to drink
hedonistic wine medium long lingering finish
opens after 1-2hours in the decanter some tannins, fresh acidity, young
(ultra modern high end premier league quaffer - not really challenging, even filling. enough!)
overrated

Great wine, very enjoyable now: ok, tannins are there, but they aren´t rough for me at this moment. Tons of ripe fruit and earthy aromas. Anyway, the wine will be better in a few years (but sometimes it´s difficult to wait for more...).
