Not sure if this particular bottle was in a in-between stage. Decanted for hours and initial nose was great with the salinity, minerality, and initial freshness you'd expect from Rav. However as time passed, it didn't really develop much, especially on the palate. Remained quite acidic vs. rounder mouthfeel of Rav's had in the past. Have one more bottle of the 2012 and will wait another year or two to see if it gets better

Christmas Dinner (Our House): Based on my previous TNs with this wine, this bottle was decanted for 30 minutes -- to its benefit. A medium plus bodied wine, with plenty of lemon (juice and crème), minerality, some green apple, and mouth-cleansing juicy acidity. Drinking well now and for several years to come, but give it air, and you will be amply rewarded.

Stunning, with the utmost sense of purity and focus.amazing ocean sea spray on the nose, very high toned striking the upper olfactory register in spades, rich lemon, Meyer lemon, fresh and bold. The palate is filled with brine and tons of acid, pure and fresh, Meyer lemon, crisp fresh cut lemon, dried apple, long and vibrant. Inspiring! Rocknroller has a special birthday (Margaux's Table): Super mineral-driven with some animal musk, tons of sea shells. This seems to be all about the minerality and saline, but there is some stone fruit in there. This is a very distinctive Chablis, and obviously chablis. I started with 95 for this wine and ended with 96.

Kevin's Big Six-OHhhhhhhhh Nooooo (Margaux's Table in White Bear Lake): My first Raeneau. Way too much brine and saline for my palate, although many present absolutely loved it. For me, the palate showed sea shell, oyster, and brine with some lemon, unripe stone fruit and spice. Nice, but a little too acidic for my palate. Upon opening, nose of seashell flint, lemon and the slightest hint of crushed almond. Underlying Rav characteristics were barely there, and I started having my doubts. Turns out it just needed time. Two hours in and it really sang. Nose of perfumed apricot, light tangerine and sunflower oil. On the palate was a medium body harmony of nuttiness, a touch of lemon and the right amount of salinity. Dull medium yellow. White flowers and citrus. Medium weight, terrific feel without obvious wood influence. Rich lemon laced with saltiness, excellent acidity and soil. Nuf said-this is just incredibly classy AC Chablis (as, of course, it should be at the price charged in the U.S.). These 2012's have a nice mixture of classic structure and richness.
Interesting-more apple fruit and a bit rounder the second night, but ooh does that soil linger on the finish!

Perhaps a bit duller version than the one I had a month ago but clearly not a bad one. Actually thought to be of higher quality than village was the conclusion in this blind tasting effort. Tasted right after a couple of Dauvissat’s, this obviously was a different style of Chablis. Heavier with a rounded nose of ripe citrus and intense seaside breeze, eucalyptus and green herbs, hiding under the cover of a silky blanket of oak spices. In the mouth there was much the same flavors as detected by the nose, and with a bit more acidity this really could have shined even higher. 91-92 points.

Quite approachable now. Nose of beeswax and honey like characteristics but 2012 was a botrytis vintage, along with baked citrus, apricot and a good amount of lean minerals. Fantastically smooth on the palate - look at that colour - and what a concentration for a village Chablis! Balanced acidity and more stone fruit flavours, banana and baked apples and a long finish with even more malolactic aromas. 92-93 points.

Pretty nose of hazelnut and iodine. Citrus and nut flavors, excellent density for a village, not surprising the 2012 was augmented by a bit of Chapelot. Quite fresh, very good, with plenty of life left.

First Raveneau. Had next to a Louis Michel GC 2015... glad we did that side by side despite the obvious differences. The Chablis was outstanding. So much depth and body. Only slightly nutty and super refreshing on the palate. This is pure Chardonnay goodness. Don’t see why it won’t drink great for another 3-5 years at least.

Åpen og med flott kompleksitet. «Myk» og rundere i kantene enn 13. En sjarmør. Begynnende utvikling. Fruktdrevet og lett å like.

PnP, but should have aired this one out. A Chablis that delivers way above its village designation, but wait - it's Raveneau! The big Raveneau tasting (Kjell Tores Mat - Oslo): Hawthorn aroma with hints of minerality. Blackberry perfume in a medium intense nose. Great acidity but lacking a bit power on the palate. That classic Raveneau sweet butterscotch flavored core is present here and throughout many wines in the tasting. Good length.

This is delicious; best village Chablis I've probably had; beautiful nose of lemon peel, pear, peach pit, iodine, spring blossoms, minerals; the palate has great concentration and is juicy and energetic; nice finish that lasts impressively for a wine of this level; great and clearly a great producer; that being said; given the price for this (at least in the US market) you can buy grand cru Chablis from good producers that are better than this for less money... so I probably won't be buying more

God lengde. Artig med side by side Raveneau's!

So a lot of the notes here suggested decanting, but others I asked cautioned against it. So I didn't, but the way this evolved in the glass, a decant might have helped it along. A bit plain jane at first but became more generous with time. Classic citrus, soap, lemon curd and gunflint. Bit of oak peeking through too. Quite mineral driven on the palate, surprisingly weighty and layered too which keeps the acidity tempered. Great length. Everything good chablis should be and more.

This is Emperors new clothes - i just don't get it. It isn't that I worry about the fact that this doesn't taste like Chablis, or even the rich oily texture... very un-Chablis... but on the palate it is a whole load of SO WHAT. Given the hype that surrounds these wines....okay, this is just the basic Chablis, I was expecting to be thrilled; I wasn't! Bottle wasn't finished... ended up in the fish soup. What does that tell you?

Opened and poured, this bottle gave a similar showing to the last experience with this wine. The bouquet and palate provide expression and balance with overall youthful impression. The wine benefited from airing and should improve with an additional year or two of bottle age.

Decanted and poured, this bottle gave a more impressive showing than the previous encounter with this wine. This bottle seems more focused and precise with detailed lemon, oyster shell and slate notes on the bouquet. The light to medium bodied palate shows excellent overall balance with a fine grained texture and lengthy finish. Based on this showing this wine should benefit from an additional 2 to 3 years of bottle age.

Decanted and poured, this wine gave a very good showing. The aromatics show oyster shell, lemon zest, ginger and some subtle slate and chalk notes. Although well defined and accessible, the bouquet seems somewhat unfocused and lacking intensity. The color is a light yellow that is appropriate for the wines age. The light to medium bodied shows very good overall balance but never becomes truly compelling. The initially seems to give a short finish that drops off only to return with a textured oyster shell element. Elements of this wine hint that it could give a more nuanced and focused showing. At this stage the wine is very good and will likely benefit from a year or two of additional bottle age.

Golden yellow. Deeply pitched aroma of oyster shells, along with their brine, lemon rind, and stone fruit. Long rolling almost syrupy fruit on the palate, a hint of honey, striking into a splendid rich acid finish, echoing forever. A splendid statuesque wine with great finesse. 50 + 18 + 17 + 9. [Another wine where I am way out of whack with the pro reviews, but following my rules here of not changing my rating after I read them.]

God lengde. Artig med side by side Raveneau's!

No notes taken. Drinking well with air. Pretty light after Vaillon 2007, but this is a wonderfull village. Is there better villages from chablis than from Raveneau? 91

Everything good chablis should be and more.

drank at eleven madison park. decanted and poured. nice way to start a meal. an hour of air did a lot of good. pale straw color. lemon peel, lemon oil, salinity on the finish. A delicious village chablis but there is better value in chablis imo

This is very good, though this bottle indicates a little time and/or air would benefit the wine.

Opened and followed over 4 hours. Enjoyed this very much, and probably prefer this (even if slightly) to the 2013 version.

no notes but i remember this being very good with significant weight, some roundness already (which surprised me), and better on night one vs night two (also a surprise)

Decanted and poured, this bottle gave another excellent showing. The wine remains youthful and benefits from airing.

Quite simply the best Raveneau A.C since the wonderful 2008. has some candied peel and iodine notes. It is rich and textured but not heavy and a big squeeze of lemon juice cleans up the finish.

Frisk syre. Saftig og delikat utgang med fin mineralitet. Nydelig village.
