Drank over three days. Medium garnet fading to a pale garnet outer edge. Beautifully evolved with ultra-ripe red berries, cassis soaked black cherries, red plum skin, blackberry, damson, floral scents of dried roses and violets, damp, decayed autumnal forest floor, crushed pine needle, aged balsamic and sweet baking spices. A beautifully made wine that’s as deep in concentration as it is harmonious and long.

Nose: The nose is nuanced and perfumed with a delicious savory quality backed up with licorice, red cherries, raspberries, rose petals, leather, and a touch of pipe tobacco. There is excellent depth and style to this with the tones wafting out of the glass.
Taste: Medium bodied with medium+ acidity and medium/high tannins. The tannins are silky, yet youthful with a silky feel along with red cherries, raspberries, licorice, pipe tobacco, and rose petals.
Overall: This is drinking right in its spot. It took about two hours to open up, and when it did it was a beautiful Brunello. Yes, this can age longer, but it is a real joy right now.

In a superb place. Didn't need much decant, and I doubt it will develop much more as the tannins were barely noticeable, however beautifully balanced and rich.

the fruit that is forward is excellent and leans towards a new world taste, but the underlying minerals and earth are all italian;an excellent balance and tannins in a good spot for opening now

Exquisite, rivaled the 04 Tenuta Casanova d Neri from the other night. Same flavor profile with tobacco, cigar box, chocolate, cherries. Well integrated tannins with excellent balance and acidity. Smooth and elegant on the mid palate with a blackcherry finish.

2004 Brunello di Montalcino (Scopri): Really inviting on the nose, but not quite matched on the palate. Could use just a bit more fruit and length. Still, not bad value and a nice wine.

taste: Very classy medium feel with big tannins and medium+ acidity and pretty tones of spices, dark red cherries, mixed berries, and roasted herbs. The tannins and acidity are a very noticeable right now
overall: in need of a good nap. This has the raw materials to be a real stunner of a wine, but it will need a good amount of time to get there. What is showing through on both the nose and palate is really good but time just needs to happen

Impressive structure and fruit content although it didn't taste quite like a usual Brunello. Also, not as complex as I remember from the tasting at K&L

taste: at first seems accessible, but the tannins sneak up a bit providing a great medium/full feel with lovely tones of dark berries, herbs, dark florals, and rich tones of red cherries
overall: There is a lot to like on this young brunello. Great classic flavors and very well styled, this shows off a lot already and should be ready to go at a earlier stage, though it has the acid and tannins to back it up for the long haul

I would give this more time, but drinking well now with food. A modernish style but still sufficient typicity.

Earthy nose, light berries nose. Short finish and lack complexity. Drink now.

Binny's Italian Night (Binny's South Loop - Chicago, IL): Really funk driven nose. Pure and clean finish. Fresh clean clothes with a hint of rusty nail.

Robert Houde Wines Portfolio feat. Marc De Grazia selections (Ritz-Carlton, Chicago IL): nose: tight nose with very good tones of dark red cherries, purple florals, roasted herbs, and bits of fresh picked berries. The nose is holding back right now, but what is poking through is real nice

2003 & 2004 Brunellos @ K&L (Redwood City, CA): Light, elegant and a firm backbone. Strong "bones" but not so much "flesh". Good.
