Corryton Burge (Strand Cellars): "Served blind. Blackberry, sweet spice, vanilla, slightly reductive, aa little tertiary leather and a touch of herbaceousness. Juicy with medium plus intensity acidity (that feels adjusted), drying slightly woody tannins, fair alcoholic heft, slightly wet black fruits with red fruit underpin and pyrazine in support, that leather note joins on the finish. South Australian Cab Sav 2005ish"

Enjoyable but starting to fade I think. The fruit flavours have lost distinctiveness, I don't taste specific cherry, currant etc. characters but just a sortof general dark berry sweetness.
The tannins have softened so it's lovely plush drinking, and tannin, acid and alcohol are all in balance. Very enjoyable but I remember liking it a bit more when the wine was a little younger and fruit was a bit more prominent and distinctive.

I'm an Aussie shiraz man and for Cab I turn to Napa. This is somewhere between the two. Not as big as either though. Better than WA cab (not as sour). Good balance. At 11yo this could easily go another 10. Good fruit. Big enough but a little austere. But just a little to let you know it's serious.

Somewhat muted nose of blackcurrant, charred wood, black spice perhaps. Palate flavours seem a bit washed out (at least compared to what I was expecting!). It's a nice, elegant, aged, cabernet, but didn't blow me away. Lacking concentration.

A deep garnet colour with plum and liquorice tones. Building sediment and deep oak flavours stem from 21 months in French oak. A medium bodied Cabernet at this age it’s still slightly angular with medium acidity.

"2015" Sydney International Wine Show - stewarding notes; 10/11/2014-10/16/2014 (Blue Mountains, NSW): {14%} All Barossa this vintage. Seductive liquorice, blackberry, basil, herbs. Vanilla oak too. Sort of British Racing Green in a bottle. Polished and gorgeous. It’s barely short of full-bodied, with medium chalky tannins, some minty/eucalypt flavours to add to the aromatics; masses of black fruits sail along the palate and end in a medium-length dry finish. A wine I rather like in spite of any prejudices I might harbor against overt and obvious flavours; this is a pretty tidy and very enjoyable offering.

Pretty dry, but has some good fruit after a few days.

Opened with a slight musty barnyard note that blew off after an hour or so, so decant recommended.
