Come softly to me. 4 hours in, this is opening up as a finely crafted old vine Syrah. Earthy pronounced nose of violet. Aged flavors of dark plums, blood, tar, licorice and the herb horehound. Located in a warm site on the Ardèche western side of the Rhône & leaning more Northern than Southern in style/expression. Makes my day.

Better now than it was on release, and in a fresher shape than a recent 2010 Brezeme VV too. It's holding on to the piercingly ripe, wild berry fruit that young Texier features so vividly and just starting to pick up some succulent cured-meat elements.

Oops. Given my success with the 2011 Brézème Pergaud recently I thought the more solar vintage form the earlier maturing St.J-St.A site would be open for business. Not really. The pedigree and depth of the wine is apparent, but the structure dominates today and not even a ton of coaxing will bring it fully out. That being ssaid, it was still enjoyable and if I didn't know what more ready bottles of this tasted like I would have been happy. I don't think it's that far, maybe 2-3 years before I should dip back in but it looks like I've been drinking one a year, so that'll probably happen.

Lovely, almost “Burgundian-style Cote Rotie” in its deft, well judged, use of Syrah. Gorgeous aromatic nose and a cherry/red fruit palette with perfect acidity and well integrated tannins. My first experience of Texier, courtesy of a generous friend. It won’t be the last. Clearly a wine-maker with fine judgement.

Wow, what a wine! This was actually best on Day 4 (we didn't finish on Day 1 and revisited it then, not in-between). It had started to become very silky, complex and intriguing. Loved it. Always a fan of his wines, but never had this, and came across it on SommSelect. Very reasonable price for the quality.

No notes taken Had dark fruit, Very good acidity, soft tannin that attained a little more angularity and structure the next day. Very savory. Age had been kind to it. Good wine, went well with grilled lamb (but I guess we expect it to)

PnP, with notes of black cherry, tar, and smoked meat on the nose. Black cherry and tar up front on the palate, with background floral notes and ripe tannins on the finish.

My first Northern Rhône wine. Light, fruity and complex, this wine has aromas of lavender and blooming flowers. This is almost like a pinot in its earthiness. I’m intriguinged more and more by this wine as it opens up

Medium-to-deep ruby, freshly acidic and nicely laden with dark plums, orange zest, lavender and tobacco, this medium-bodied Syrah packs its flavors in a fresh frame with seamless alcohol, equally seamless oak and light sweet tannins. Medium in weight on the mid-palate and finishing with medium length, this is a wine worthy of its sticker price. Drink now-2021.

More than held its own alongside a Benetiere Cote-Rotie. Less meaty than the Cote-Rotie; this is more about high toned violet and other floral notes, with a savoury stony/earthy character beneath the fresh red fruit. Much of the structure here comes from its bright acid spine, though there's some grainy tannin lingering on the long finish. I wish I had bought more of this.

Dork tasting. This wine followed a wine that was disappointing so it wouldn't have been hard for a fresh young wine to favorably impress, but this wine just didn't 'bring it' somehow. Decanting might have helped.

Dark fruit, pepper, leather, and plums on the nose. Medium, soft tannins with lots of dark fruit and plum jam on the palate. Long finish.

Foreword with blackberry and cinnamon spice. Fades through the mid and back palette gradually to silence.

Blue fruit and acid washed rocks. Density and lightness, savory and lifted. Maybe a little closed down and lean at the moment, ymmv.
