L.2020. Evolved, expressive nose with aromas of roses and blood orange, last year's strawberry syrup and liquorice. Fully dry with nicely developed flavours, soft mousse and a salty finish - extremely apetizing!

Lunch with Gaggan Anand (Mandala Club, Singapore): How unusual - a sparkling Rose from Austria. This was quite decent. The nose had a bit of sulphur on it, but that blew off to show a little yeast and some rather indistinct white fruit notes which brought to mind jambu ayer (water apples) and lentils. The palate was slightly more interesting - lots of mineral, and plenty of bright, chewy acidity gave a nice foil to an otherwise simple mouthful - again reminiscent of water apples and lentils with a hint of florals - all couched in a soft mousse. An interesting one. Not half bad.

Medium pink hue. Could pass for a light red wine. I do love Blauer, although it is not to everyone’s taste. Fearsome acid with little stuffing... but those aromas! Wild strawberry, nettles, tart pie cherry, blood orange, grapefruit, hibiscus, rose petal, rhubarb or sorrel (?), a slight yogurt lactic tang. Many classic rose notes, it turns out. This producer has a knack for coaxing all that is possible out of this mercurial grape.

L2019. Colourful, a pale garnet/sunset orange hue. Super-expressive and wide open aromatics of old strawberries, blood orange, herbs, yeast, and salty liquorice. Dry and extremely tasty, with gentle mousse, generous flavours and a refreshing salty finish. Just impossible to have any complaints. Superb as an apéritif, more enjoyable than many a rosé de saignée champagne, and definitely the best version we ever tasted of Schilcher Frizzante. (Disclaimer: ITB with Swedish importer Vin & Natur)

More funk than I remember when I tasted at DomaineLA. Or maybe some bottle variation? Drank ice cold so not much on the nose, strawberry guava on the palate, fizzy and very refreshing.

L. 2015 (vintage 2014). Gotta love the combo of old strawberry jam, sweet-salty liquorice, blood orange and ale yeast. Finishes dry and mineral. One of our favourite summertime starters!

great fun in the summer again - develops nicely with air, great sparkler that goes well with all sorts of food - handling salmon, horseradish and asparagus with ease tonight

Intéressant, plus près de la bière que du mousseux par sa texture et ses bulles. Fraises, framboises, levure... Pas très complexe mais festif tout de même!

Excellent. Grapefruit, blood orange, pepper, earth and fizz all held in by a bottle cap. Delicious - do not open this if you only want one glass, you will soon be faced with an empty bottle.

Insanely fresh and juicy. Surprisingly clean, almost crisp. Strawberries, blood orange and a soothing minerality. The drinkability here is just crazy, the ultimate summer refreshment.

Blood grapefruit/orange, yeast, nail polish, flowers and beer/cider. Feels fragile in a way where you fear the mouse to be just around the corner.

Nice aromatics. Lot of personality and definately not MOR. Slightly hollow and a bit simple. Nice to have tried, but nothing a will buy more of.
