A brilliantly elegant and refined Chardonnay, the 2012 Block 2 delivers a stunning minerality with fresh seaweed, oysters and foaming waves. Then a second layer of flowers, Chardonnay typical colza and an ever so slight whiff of nutmeg appears. This is an intricate and also intriguing nose. The palate is perfectly integrated and balanced All components are in place and speak up harmoniously. Perhaps the acidity is a bit more forward than I would expect, but that adds to the positive experience and not the contrary. There is enough texture and structure to help this effort age well for a number of years. With a 45 second length on the finish, I would easily have a sip of this wine anytime I get the chance to!

Leo's Blind Tasting Group - June '15 edition (Amali, NYC): Really impressive. Bright citrus fruits, stony notes, gentle florality, and a faint gunflint/smoky element all come together very seamlessly on a lightweight frame. There's bright acidity underneath and a sense of understatement to the flavours, and this is lovely to sit and follow with some air, showing more savoury and mineral dimensions when I revisited it after a couple of hours. I think just about everyone on the table was guessing this to be an old world wine.

LBTG blind - very very brief notes (Amali, NYC): Very enjoyable, light, and yummy! Pronounced nose with an interesting smoky element. By far the most graceful ad light of the flight. My #1 of the flight. 91-93.

Typical New Zeeland wine with that peach, white flower and pine apples on the nose. Perfyme mixed with exotic fruit.
Taste is powerful without being cloying or overwhelming. Sparkling acid (no bubbles) with peach, honey melon and papaya fruit. Feels like a very good cote de beaune with less minerals and with more exotic fruits.
Overall a terrific Chardonnay. Had the same wine a year ago and it did not live up to my expectations. This bottle was better by far.

Väldigt burgundiskt för att vara NZ, mycket mineral, citrus, lite rökigt, flinta, jäkligt god. Bästa vita NZ jag provat tror jag. Blint satte jag Bourgogne.

Yellow apples, white fruit, tropical fruit, almond icing, hazelnuts and some wet stones. Great nose. Surprisingly mineral feeling which I like. Off course this is very young but I can appreciate the lightness and freshness it delivers. Nice medium acid and a medium long aftertaste with a distinct tail of limejuice and pineapple. This is good and will only get better.

Big, rich, toasty, mealy. Exactly what you would expect. Classic example of high end Chardonnay. Very good overall and still has a long way to go.
