  • Perfect summer aperitif

  • Big nose of fruits like apricots, pear, and white fruits. Better after decant and 2+ hours. Light, but noticeable alcohol. Heavy body, good structure, lower acid. Big white fruits, oak, vanilla, light bitterness, and long white fruit finish. Great wine for people who like large white wines that are not chardonnay.

  • This wine has a nose of honeysuckle, peaches, apricot, and minerals. It is very dry when first hitting the palate, yet the finish ends with residual sugar. It is like the initial dryness evaporates on the tongue -- very unique and strange. Of the white wines I have drank, I have never experienced this sensation before. The alcohol on the palate seems initially strong and it too blends away as one sips. I am not sure what to make of this wine. It will be difficult to pair with the breaded cod I am baking. I would think that it would go well with a spicy grilled white meat. I might rate it higher if I understood what I should be tasting here. To the comments of others, this is a weird wine. I almost wish I didn't open it, so that I could have shared it with others. Good luck with me finding another bottle in the store...

    *** Update ***
Turns out the wine paired quite nicely with the cod -- food seemed to tame it; especially, once it opened up.

  • Had this second and last bottle of this casually with friends before a BBQ, so unfortunately no notes vs. my prior less flattering review. However, from memory (from a week ago) this did not seem seem as flabby as I'd portrayed before. It think it was good and balanced.

  • Clearly polarizing and I understand comments by those who didn't enjoy. I believe that's mostly a stylistic preference as this is a very unique, even wierd wine. Notes of flowers, honey, nectarine, across a long and almost botyrized finish. Needs food for support. Interesting but doesn't leave you longing for more

  • At 14.3% alcohol, not a sweet wine, most of the sugar would have been absorbed by the fermentation process. The floral nature and overall taste of these Rhone varietals does makes it seem somewhat sweet. Definitely not the style of wine for everyone. I have found lush white wines like this do best when they are allowed to warm up from fridge temperature, maybe to 50 degrees or so, decanting can also help.

Was concerned with the new label and more competitive pricing that the quality of the wine would be less, but not to worry. This is the same rich/lush/floral Viognier/Marsanne blend that goes with so many dishes, especially shellfish. This usually in the third year is in its peak, drinking well now.

  • Tried over two nights and TOMHERER's comments match my perception. This seems clumsy and too heavy and sweet for me. Sure, it's got nice Viogner floral notes, but for the most part it comes across like an overdone, too-ripe California Chardonnay. Maybe a few years in bottle will let it come together, but it doesn't seem to have the acid or structure - but if the off-putting (to me) character of it is some sort of baby fat then maybe there's hope. Anyway, it's a matter of taste and I think will find the richness and ripeness rewarding and enjoyable. It was just too much for me. OK / good. (An "81" is at the bottom end of the "Good" range and that's how I mean it.)

  • Clearly a polarizing wine, and I'm landing more on the hate end of the love/hate equation. Agree with every TN here on some level; there is some viognier typicity, complexity, finish, and aromatic appeal here. But it just suuuucks to drink. So sweet, rich, and overpowering that I wish the respectable finish would just stop.

Weird wine; can't score. Probably a great find for a fan of the style at the half-off NHLS closeout price, but I'm dumping the rest and moving on.

  • Fresh, floral aromas of peach, apple, and orange blossoms, sweet stonefruit, pears, and orange creamsicle. Vibrant, mid to full weight, displaying an elegant intensity, layered textures, and a lovely purity. Mouth watering, with a long orange citrus finish and a lingering aftertaste.

  • The New Fleming's 100 Preview Event. Lovely nose of wet slate, pear and peach, more of the same on the palate, subtle, sophisticated, and tasty, easily the best of the whites tasted tonight and the reds.my wine of the night, medium body, medium finish and lovely aftertaste. Tasted 5 times-terrific white wine. 50% Marsanne, 50% Viognier.

  • The Fleming's 100 preview Tasting Event (Flemings Steakhouse, The Domain, Austin TX): Aromatic with lots of smoky aromas and flavors; not a style that I care for. Pass.

  • Great floral nose that hints at sweetness, but a white hot mess in the mouth. Hot and buttery. Not good. Below average.

  • (Tasted at Vino, Hollywood, Florida). This Central Coast California blend of 50% Viognier and 50% Maryanne has a golden yellow color. The wine is aromatic with aromas of honeysuckle, florals, and perfume. It tastes typically of Viognier, with pineapple, melon, apricot, peaches, and honey. The Marsanne component is represented with tastes of pear, almonds, and spice. This mix makes the wine fruity, complex, and balanced, with a nice bite of acidity. It is medium bodied with a short to moderate finish. This is a delicious food friendly, summer white wine.
