Drank over 2 nights - on each night wine still needed about 30-45mins to wake up. Drank nicely over 2 nights with Spaghetti Bolognese in Day 1. I think it'll drink fine whether with dinner or munch on cheese and charcutries
Day 1 - More layers and depth of flavors with more leather, tar/tobacco that shadows the underlying fruits. Nice acidity and integrate med(-) tannins. Got a nice round mouth feel.
Day 2 - Flavors are more balanced, with more fruits showing, however slight thinness detected. Still lovely

Great food wine, especially if it’s a tomato based dish! The nose is showing strong signs of development and in a great place with stewed red and black cherry. The palate is showing nice acid, which drops with that bolognese sauce to show awesome red cherry and plum flavor. Drink now, I think it’s at its prime and probably doesn’t have more than a few years left.

Yikes - what happened to this bottle!?!? Really harsh, hot, unbalanced. I know the drinking window says it's a little past, but the bottle I had last year was awesome and showed no signs of advanced age. This was the last bottle of a couple of cases.

A good middle of the road Tuscan. Open about a few hours before drinking or decant. At this age, it's drinking quite well, but I think it would be tight a few years younger.

Vibrant nose of black cherry, earth, and citrus peel. Saddle leather up front on the palate, with ripe cherry and a touch of orange peel. Acidity aligns nicely, and some smokiness lingers on the finish. What it lacks in elegance it more than makes up for in complexity. Excellent value for $20.

This is a superb example of what is already a perennially reliable wine. Nose reminds me of a 15-yr-old Lynch-Bages I had a while back: smoky-sweet dark fruit, cedar, graphite, and a little ink. Follows through on the palate, with slightly grainy medium tannins, medium-minus acid, good length, no rough edges. Just a touch bitter on the back. Will keep a little while, though probably not enough acid to go too many years. Best about 30 minutes after opening; a little wobbly after 2 hours. Superb value at the $17 I got this for. 13.5%. 90+

Upon pouring a glass i had to check the label to see if i had grabbed th wrong bottle. This was very dark, inky even, like an Ausie Shiraz. Then when I tasted it I had to recheck the label. Wierd, but would have sworn that this was something from the land down under, for about 10 minutes until the air got to it, then it became dry and bitter like a good Italian wine.

PnVnD let air for 1hr. Dense dark garnet purple with violet to clear rim. Plum cassis espresso porcini and parmesan rind on the nose. Medium weight with velvety tannins. Sour cherry cola plum and cassis on the palate. Lingering pleasant bitter herbal and cherry cola finish. A bit lacking in the mid-palate puts this just a shade behind the 2010 and 2012 vintages. Great with food.

The wine was dark ruby in colour and offered cherry, plum, coffee, vanilla, tobacco and earthy notes on the nose. On the palate the medium-bodied wine showed cherry, plum, some chocolate, coffee, spices, vanilla, tobacco, tea and earthy notes, with medium-plus acidity, medium-level tannin, moderate heat from the alcohol, a creamy mouthfeel and very good length. Solid. Good value.

Aired in the bottle for a couple of hours. On the nose inky and raisiny notes. Rather full bodied on the palate, vibrant and smooth tannins, delivering dark dried(raisiny) fruit with an inky aspect. Good texture. This is a solid performer every vintage. Great to quaff.

This wine is old school. If I didn't know what it was, I'd guess it's a Bordeaux. Lots of wet earth and forest aromas and flavors. Drinking great now, although definitely opens up with an aeration / decant. Should last for at least a few years.

Got it at Costco. Great value. All this talk about consistency across vintages in other reviews-I don't get it- almost passed this bottle up because the last vintage I tasted, likely the '09,was unimpressive, seeming sangiovese dominant, and utterly forgettable. This is rounder, more balanced, with lots of fruit but also a good amount of complexity. Holds my interest beyond one glass. Great with pizza buffet including spicy meat and rich goat cheese toppings.

Super Tuscan showing a lot of complexity and power, and potential for at least 5 years of life ahead. Nose is a nice mix of dark fruits and toast, along with pepper, violet, herbs and a hint of sardine. Firm tannin on the palate, with a toasty oak element moving into bold dark fruits like blackberry. Clean acidity, long finish. Highly recommended.

Had three bottles on christmas eve for family dinner.
Three hours decant, not sure if it improved the taste. Mellow tuscan with plums, medium tannins and medium finish. Maybe a bit too much acidity. Easy drinking crowd pleaser, good with most food types.

Deep colour and high intensity on the nose. Aromas of dark fruit, tobacco, pine bark and hints of oak. Forrest fruit on the palate with grippy tannins that becomes chewy in the finish. Not perfectly balanced I have to say but overall a nice everyday wine.

With choice strip steak for lunch, cooked medium to avoid veins of raw fat. When I cook steak at home I can safely cook to medium without losing the juice from the meat. This wine was not too try for a moderately oily steak. The oilier your steak, the more tannic you want your red wine to be, otherwise your mouth will be left either parched, or not enough tannins to stand up to the fat. Anyway, this wine was decanted and benefitted from aeration over the course of a day. Definitely decant and aerate for at least an hour. It will probably not develop much further going forward. The back label says this wine is produced with "indigenous and international grapes traditionally grown in Tuscany" and is refined for a year in oak casks. $17. I would buy this again for that price. Overall value: 4 stars of 5.

blackberry jam, prune juice and dried flowers on the nose, shows depth, dark berries, prunes, tobacco and cherries on the palate, a rich Italian wine, leans towards full-bodied, just the right touch of oak, should mellow out with short-term cellar time, a nice and elegant food wine

The 'old reliable' of Toscanas - Villa Antinori is amazingly consistent year after year, and the 2011 does not disappoint. A dark opaque purple in color, offering a pretty Tuscan nose of dark fruits, leather, earth and spice. Full-bodied, extremely rich and velvety. Offers a juicy mouthful of tangy cherry and plum fruit, with tremendous depth and concentration. The long, smooth finish is dripping with opulent fruit and features firm tannins, along with faint notes of oak and spice. Positively delicious, though just slightly over ripe - but that is to be expected from this vintage. 50+5+12+16+7=90

Great wine once it opened up. Could age a few more years but definitely not too harsh or astringent now. Medium to full bodied. Delicately fruity and pleasantly spicy. Picking up subtle notes of tobacco and cocoa

Nice deep red color wine with nice level of tannin. Nice level of acidity with nice dark cherry notes. Long finale with just enough complexity. A bit more expensive then I am willing to pay but still a nice treat
