  • First foray into leroux whites. Love a lot of his reds especially Bonne Mares if you follow my notes. Wine had a golden straw color. Good texture and viscosity. I liked the mouthfeel. Flinty, acacia and honeysuckle on the nose. Fruit leaned toward tropical to me. Mango, papaya, but with a twist of lemon on top. Medium plus acidity but wine was a little round and flabby to me even though acidity was on point. I think that’s a trait I’ve seen in 12s relative to 11 and 13. All Pros said “long finish”. I deducted a couple points because I thought the finish was abbreviated and you all know how I am about the finish being key. Still, really good wine at decent price point for Batard. Highly recommended and good qpr.

  • BM Dinner (Summer Pavilion): From a very small plot: 0.16ha.
I can’t recalled that when did BL acquire this plot.
Highly expressive and lifted nose: Flint, rich ripe yellow fruits, cold herbs with perfume flower notes. There is some oak influence playing at the back ground. Very good depth, very ripe fruits here. The new oak is definitely showing at this stage (sweet vanilla). Fresh, salivating spring water likes aftertaste with lots of roasted almond, nuts with a mouth coating finish. Rounded mouth feel and very rich textural richness. It is very youthful and but very giving.
