Not a typical merlot. Bottle says that it is a Cab lover's Merlot. And quite plain as such. Could be confused with a cab indeed. Got this from their actual winery in Napa. Not a good buy. Seems to be over the hill already.

Ruby hued with nice dark fruits on the nose, cherries, raisins and plums. Dry and full palate with notes of black currant, tart cherry and a drying oaky finish.

Ripe dark fruit on the nose. Rather full bodied with juicy plummy fruit and a gentle tannic bite and hint of oak on the palate. Very good.At Adventure of the Sea.

Compared to the 2012 Hill Family Merlot, this one didn't stand a chance. Was a very light Merlot, but had a lot going on. Not very earthy, and didn't have that nitrogenous nose or opening. The front was boysenberry and red licorice with a raspberry core in the middle. A little heat. The finish was bright red fruits, without much tannin. Not much going on here, but what was here was rather SOLID. Not an ager. Drink 2015-2017.

A Taste of Charles Krug: Garnet color with hearty plum, fig, spice, red currant, and vanilla bean aromas. On palate, it's medium-bodied, and focused with surprising acidity, dusty tannins and generous red currant, black raspberry, cacao, and vanilla flavors. Lingering finish. Intriguing blend of 84% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Petite Sirah, 3% Malbec, and 1% Petit Verdot. Aged 18 months in French and American oak. 14% alcohol

Notes of blueberry, raspberry, graham cracker, and dark chocolate on the nose. Palate is very well balanced with supple tannins. Medium plus finish.

Lush and leaning towards full bodied. Plum and red cherry flavors with a toasty cedar finish.
