  • Drinking well now, some development to go with the fruit and a little cola

  • This wine needs time to open. On first pour the fruit was actually more pronounced and complexity was really not there. IT was hiding. About an hour and a half open this thing is nailing CA Pinot. Color is a bit dusty. Maroon hughes that hold color to the rim so not showing too much age right now. Nose is gun metal and forest floor. Dried blackberry ad strawberry. Palate is consistent with the nose. Touches of mineral oil and basalmic vinnegar accent the palate nicely. Wine is very well balanced. Medium plus acidity. Medium minus tannins. Warm but not too warm. Finish lingers nicely and holds together. Enjoying this as an afternoon stand alone wine and it is working well. YOU HAVE TO LET IT OPEN.

  • Again a very delicious drinking pinot, and a great qpr. Nice and taut flavors of raspberries that are a bit less prickly than the last time we tried this. A lot of depth and complexity still here. I am sorry this is our last bottle. It is drinking like a really good cold climate CA pinot.

  • Brilliant - agree with the previous gushing reviews. The hit of the evening - served with grilled salmon over lentils with a creme fresh dijon sauce. What a wonderful pairing.

  • Similar impressions to bottle from July. Red fruits, earthiness and spice. Really lovely stuff and still stood out even though it was the 4th bottle of the night.

  • Bright red berries and smoke on the nose, balanced fruit and refreshing acidity keep it lively and seductive and the addition of a little gamey edge give it an old world nod. A nice old - meets new style Pinot.

  • Perfectly good but nothing amazing. A bit subdued on the nose; some nice smooth fruit on the palate. Slightly sharp edge on the finish, but does not detract from the general enjoyment of the wine. Maybe this needs a bit more time to develop more depth?

Edit -- after reading the other notes on decanting, it is now about 2 hours since opening (not decanted, but in bottle). The nose is beginning to open up a bit. There is a smooth sweetness on the palate now -- bing cherry with some nice creaminess. A bit of earth on the nose, and some more complexity in the mouth. Bumping this up to 90 from 88.

Edit 2 -- yes, the lesson is to read my fellow CT notes first. This is really opening up into a beautiful wine. It is in the realm of gee I just need to keep sipping this (and move close to one bottle consumed alone....). More earth on the nose, and a tight depth begins to emerge. Lovely acidity now gives the lovely creamy fruit in the mid palate some nice lift. Up to 92 from 90......

  • Lots of cherry, cranberry, medium weight, excellent viscosity and acidity. This is a very fine and reasonably priced pinot noir.

  • Nicely balanced medium weight Pinot. Good red fruit balanced by acidity. May develop more complexity with time but ready to drink now. Excellent, elegant wine.

  • Took other's suggestions and decanted an hour and was very pleased with the results. Nose was very red fruited, cherry, cranberry, with earthiness and spice. Palate followed the nose with nice acidity. Drank well on its own, but would be great with food.

  • Decant for an hour, sit back and enjoy this formidable pinot from Sonoma. With the right touch of wood, this is a delicious, complex, aromatic, wonderful treat. Bing cherry, some blueberry, a bit of spice. Very good. Recommended

  • An excellent Pinot. Classic CA Pinot nose - cherry, cranberry. I don't see a lot of oak. Palate follows the nose with deep cherry, strawberry - Very red fruit. A substantial wine, not thin, but not heavy either. Solid acidity. Excellent with food. It was much better with a 1 hour splash decant.

  • Really Good. Nose has red fruits, forest floor, with a touch of oak (not too much). Again red fruit on on the palate, cranberry, bing cherry, mod acid. Nice long finish. Bought on Last Bottle just to see. A delicious Cali Pinot! I wish I bought more when I got the offer. Sad to see my bottle gone.....

  • Tasted blind vs 2012 Spell Terra de Promissio & 2013 Underwood pinots. Best was M-M, then Sp and last U. Initially mis-id'ed the M-M and thought it was Spell and thought the U was M-M because I recalled the M-M pinot at the winery seemed "light". Obviously that recollection was faulty.
M-M was deep red in color with a distinctive bouquet, med tannins, bit on the vanilla side. Sp was close to M-M, showing similar depth in all aspects but not the vanilla. U was quite light in color, fruity but without depth. For several days later, I could blind id all three wines, the Sp and M-M still offering a stronger bouquet and presence on the palate than the U.
