Feel I drank this too soon. However, it maintained its cork and deep ruby color. Not as aromatic as I would think. Raspberries, mint, pepper, oak. The flavor was slightly muted but enjoyable. Tannins were still drying, long after taste, oaky, woodsy vanilla spice. Aged well and wish I could have rested it two more years.

Very nice nose reminiscent of Northern Rhone Syrah. Roasting meat, smoked bacon, cedar and black cherries. Medium-bodied and moderately tannic with high acid for a CdP. Quite a bit less ripe than most 2011's. Sturdy and well put-together, but a bit drying without food. Drink now-2023. 91

Dinner at Maxwell's in Fargo and ordered from their wine list. Forty-five minute (or so) decant. Wine was clear, very light fine sediment. Deep red color, no bricking. Nose was a fragrant mixture of ripe cherries, wet slate and fines herbs. In the mouth, wine was deep and layered: cherries, figs, smoked meats and cedar. Wine was full-bodied, smooth and well balanced, with a fairly-long finish. It appears to be able to last for some time yet and matched well with the lamb, beef and elk dishes ordered by various members of our dinner party.

Tasted over four days. Substantive, with a pleasant kiss of brett, smoke, and coal notes. Stalwart acid and tannins, gritty finish of very good length.

Fantastically aromatic. Just loaded with various herbs, spices, cedar, cigar box, etc as well as red fruits. Full-bodied and delicious. Again, displays a panoply of spices as well as sweet black and red cherry fruit. Fresh rosemary and thyme are just SO delicious! Juicy, with mouth-watering acidity and high quality tannin. This wine is absolutely delicious right now! No need for further aging, but no need to be in a hurry either. Incredibly bright and fresh for a 2011 CdP. Drink 2017-2023 92

Slow oxed for 2.5 hours. Deep purple color. Somewhat muted bouquet of kirsch, iron, mineral and lemon zest. A layered Chateauneuf Du Pape that has much more earthen funk than some of the more rounded styles of CDP. Lots of movement and complexity between the front and mid-palate with a very long finish. Palate smooth with dusty kirsch, leather, cedar, all spice and peppery finish. Medium plus body with high acidity and gripping tannins. This wine has a lot of character. Drinking well, but will probably get better with a couple of years in the cellar. An old world style that will reward those that want more complexity.

Strikingly herbaceous bouquet backed by, spruce and fir forest, lavender, light roast coffee beans, unsweetened cacao, and black rocks. Among the tautest wines from the place that I recall, yet still showing very good power. Powerful acid, gritty tannins and mouthfeel, and peppery finish. The piercing herbaceousness and tautness dominate the tasting experience. If the former integrates and the latter recedes, this could be a special wine. Not sure that either will happen though.

Tasted during a WA event „a matter of taste”. Dark purple. Expressive nose of dark, ripe fruit complicated with a noticeable herbaceous touch providing complexity and structure. I really like this wine as it is not your typical berry-sweet Chateauneuf. Real character here.

Smoke and roasted meats evident on the nose. Plenty of flavor and good balance of tannin and acidity. A beautiful CdP that is about at its peak now.

Somewhere between a 91 and 92 but peaking. The peppery fruit and browning garnet are telltale. Needed the 1-2 hours of decanting

This has improved over the last two years. Expansive, impressive energy and range. It showed best with air. Young.

Deep ruby. Red fruit, fruit cake and garrigue on nose. Rich fruits with tannins still prominent. Benefits from being open a few days.

A good solid CdP but was expecting a bit more given the winery. It was certainly enjoyable but not memorable.

Tasted this during Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate's Matter of Taste @ The Grand Hyatt, Singapore.
Rounded and smooth, well-balanced with a touch of class and elegance. Still young at this stage and expected to evolve and improve.

A good CdeP, but from my point of view Saint-Cosme is delivering better on their Gigondas.
