Something’s totally wrong about this bottle. The ripe black fruit nose and texture was perfect, but the palate was not what I expected, as it shows nothing but sour, astringent taste. This was my first experience with this wine, so I couldn’t be sure if it’s defective or not. But judging by the nice nose and texture, there should be more on this wine. What a shame.

Orlando CT & Friends Offline (Fishbones): This was infanticide for Bordeaux I think even with a more approachable year and that seemed to show in the wine. Overall tight. It was a bit closed down and didn't quite open as much as I'd hoped during the dinner. Wait on these.
Cos d'Estournel Tasting (Waterford Wines, Milwaukee): Oak dominant. Very dark fruit, hard to find right now on the nose. Sweet fruit forward palate. Juicy and fresh, rich, sweet. Very tough and astringent on the length. Clearly needs more time. But a very nice wine for a tough vintage.

Cos d'Estournel vertical - Check in on some recent vintages; 8/1/2016-9/3/2016: During a merchant tasting, decanted for 2h. Medium purple. Discrete nose of blue and dark fruit chocolate, oak, foresty aromas. Medium bodied palate with very good balance of fruit, acidity and tannins. A lighter Cos but all well in place. Really pleasant, give it a few more years and the terroir driven aromas will expand as well. 93-94

Quite successful for the vintage. Medium bodied, but with more depth and color than you would have expected, the wine is fresh, spicy, and polished, leaving with you silky tannins, crisp, crunchy cassis, blackberry and cherries. Give to 2-4 years in the bottle and it could be even better.

Ruby in color, cassis with cocoa powder, salty tannins and fresh dark, red berries are found in the spicy finish. From 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc, with a pH of 3.6, the wine reached 12.7% alcohol, the lowest level of alcohol achieved since the early 1980’s. Produced from yields of 26.3 hectoliters per hectare, the wine will be aged in 60% new, French oak. 90-92 Pts
