Beautiful garnet/rube color with just a touch of bricking. Super perfumed, seductive and aromatic, with notes of dark red and sweet red berries, cherries, crushed violets, some rose petals, some tar, also some sweet spices, menthol and some cedar wood. It‘s medium-full bodied, with high acidity providing amazing freshness, some medium-high tannin that is exceptionally silky, especially in the context of the vintage and long finish with plenty of layers. What a beauty and a testament to the wine-making skills of Chiara. Not an easy vintage, but this has superb freshness and elegance.

Quite tannic but lots of cherry fruit and freshness around it to stay balanced. Too young still but at the same time very interesting to taste. Decanting no luxury. Next bottle in 2-3 years. 93+

Great nose with little sweet and red dark berries, spices, some smoke, tobacco and licorice with a flowery nose. High dry tannins, but great mouthfeel with long aftertaste. Note, next btl 2021

Decanted for 2 hours to open up. Very pretty note of sweet red and dark berries, tobacco leaf, sweet spices, some smoke, tar, crushed flowers and licorice. It‘s medium-full bodied but very elegant, with high acidity providing beautiful freshness and medium-high tannin that is super silky. Very good length. A very pretty Via Nuova that is accessible a little earlier and combines the richness of the year with incredible freshness.

Medium red color and throwing some sediment. Classic Barolo nose - menthol, sour cherry & sweet cherry. Similar palate (tasted young which it is) with same flavor profile as palate with medium body, medium+ tannins, medium+ acidity & long finish. Very nice. 91-92

My first wine from Chiara Boschis. Had a very compelling nose of dark fruit, brambles and a nice touch of oak. Gorgeous texture that was rich and elegant as opposed to silky. Delicious now but should gain complexity.

The 2011 Via Nuova is a classic effort in every senses of the word. I was met by a display of dark red fruits, roses, animal musk, brown spice and undergrowth. On the palate, I found beautifully contrasted textures, both silky and vibrant, as notes of rich strawberry, plum, and savory spice mingled with earth and mineral tones. It finished on fine tannin, dried fruits and inner florals. This is a gorgeous wine that has improved in bottle over the last year.

A bouquet with classical Barolo notes of menthol, spice, darker fruit and sour cherries. The tannins are quite powerful and the wine has a lot of grip. Definitely more masculine than the Cannubi, tasted next to it. This Via Nuova has a lot of potential and it will be exciting to follow its evolution. Quite backward for a 2011, but really exciting. Definitely needs time.

Expressive notes of dark and red berries, crushed flowers, some smoke, sweet spices, tobacco and some menthol. On the palate there are also notes of tobacco leaf, tar, sweet red and dark berries. It's pretty full-bodied with high acidity and medium-high tannin that is very silky. Excellent length. A very expressive and complex Barolo that tastes like a hypothetical blend of Mosconi and Cannubi with Mosconi bringing the darkness and Cannubi bringing the brighter, more lifted aromatics to the table...

Roses and very flowery, and then very rich, succulent mid palate, very integrated, long mineral finish. Some black pepper or white pepper spice on the nose, sage and savory.
It’s a blend of 6 vineyards. Chiara really likes this vintage, more powerful.

Tasted at the winery. Perfumed and very complex notes of dark and red cherries, tar, violets, sweet spices, tobacco and some menthol. On the palate there are additional notes of tobacco leaf, tar, sweet red and dark berries. It's pretty full-bodied with medium-high acidity and medium-high tannin that is very silky. Great length. A fantastic and complex Barolo that combines the more high-toned flavors of the Barolo Crus with the darker tones of Serralunga and Monforte. The oak is perfectly integrated already... Wow! (95+)
What a great experience to taste all the 2011 Baroli next to each other. While the Cannubi was seductive, perfumed and high-pitched, the Mosconi was dark and brooding and very full-bodied and the Via Nuova is middle ground with darker and high-pitched flavors and tons of complexity. What an amazing set of wines...

The Via Nuova stands out for its wildly appealing nose of deep, warming red fruits, intense florals, animal musk, licorice and dark, almost sensual spice notes. On the palate, this showed classic, yet open, and already alluring with ripe red fruits and inner floral tones carried by silky textures. Its tannic spine came forward on the finish, as the fruit turned tart and saturating to the senses. This is a beautiful wine which will mature in the cellar but is so hard to not drink now.

A blend of six different vineyards in three different crus so it is their most traditional Barolo (because of the blending).
Smells of old wood and black licorice. The palate is that super sexy, silky new Barolo feel with a strong, firm, but totally integrated grip on the back end. Very elegant.
For them at the winery the 2011s are apparently "more complete".
Gabutti in Serra Lunga, Lacoste in Monteforte, and some others that I just missed.
Aged two years in 50% botte and 50% barrique and the barrique is about 18% new barrique. Sorry about the spelling.

Tasted from tank at the winery. The nose is great. Barolo glue & acetone, lighter fruit, lovely strawberries, raspberries, cherries, some vanilla, tar and spices. On the palate this wine delivers big harsh tannins, beautiful deep & creamy cherry fruit, cream de cassis, licorice, with a big structure and balance. Another 2011 that really convinces. (93 – 95)
