On the lighter, delicate side. Notes of plum, tea, spice, and earthiness. This has a slight medicinal bitterness that weaved in and out. I havent been a fan of the few Anam Cara pinots in the past and this was the best one I've tasted.

this bottle was significantly better than the previous one - age, without the tiredness or flatness. notes very much in line with those from ARPERRYMD in September 2019. drank well across two nights, though night one was definitely better. "drink now" seems like a better option (based on this bottle) than holding longer.

this bottle was disappointingly thin and flat compared to what i recall of anam cara pinots. wasn't corked, didn't seem to be turning bad, no obvious reason. have had some other bottles over the years that aged well, so will hope for better from the remaining 2012s.

Same showing as the three previous bottles. PnP, as I didn't want to lose any fruit to aeration. Didn't matter much however, because there wasn't much fruit to lose. There was, however, lots of earthy notes, significant acidity, and at least a touch of tannin. We're done with this producer.

Sorry to say, this bottle was no better than the bottles we had in June or July. PnP, as I didn't want to lose any fruit to aeration. Didn't matter much however, because there wasn't much fruit to lose. There was, however, lots of earthy notes, significant acidity, and at least a touch of tannin. Shame on us for holding this bottle so long!?

Garnet trending towards brickish color. Cork stained about 1/5th through. Got a hit a freshness as it came out, which never made it to the glass. Tertiary, with a medicinal aftertaste. Just plain tired and past its prime. Withholding rating since this could very well be premoxed due to cork.

PnP, as I didn't want to lose any fruit to aeration. Didn't matter much however, because there wasn't much fruit to lose. We had this wine side-by-side with a bottle of the 2012 Anam Cara Pinot Noir Reserve Estate, and what little fruit this wine had, it was quite a bit more than the Reserve Estate had. Both wines did have lots of earthy notes, significant acidity, and at least a touch of tannin. These are very disappointing results given that these bottles were purchased at the tasting room after significant tastings and discussions with the owner.

After a 2-hour decant: a delicate (bland might be a better descriptor) assemblage of minerally, savory and woody flavors, but no fruit whatsoever. Did not improve after a further 2 hours of aeration. I'm awarding it an 80 because it wasn't technically faulted, but I don't see how this wine would appeal to anyone. $29 at Total Wine, a waste of money.

Nose was big with a floral scent. A little tannic at the outset with strawberry and other red fruit. After leaving for about 4 hours it really began to shine. Lovely red fruit flavors encased in a soft silky background. Balanced with just enough acidity to compliment food. In a word elegant. This wine still needs a year or two or a good decant.

Nose of cranberries, cloves, and tobacco. Palate is cloves, earthiness, cranberries, cherries, and the acidity of blood orange. Mid finish is cloves.

Lush blackberry, some cola, smooth mouth feel, quite a bit of structure still. I would age this one a bit longer until it comes of age, I feel.

2012 is the best vintage of the Nicholas estate I've tasted! And we just did a vertical of all of their estate wines from 2005-2012
