  • Very dark red color. PNP, drank 2+ glasses over 3 hours. This was off the list and pretty reasonable. Showed well, dark red fruits, pepper, spice, hint of roast meats, hints of caramel and a subtle touch of eucalyptus. The palate is medium bodied, black cherry, blackberry, raspberry, pepper, savory notes, nice tannins and a medium finish.

  • Not much nose, but nice and smooth at the beginning and then the fruit comes forward after a couple hours of opening up.

  • As a preamble - I like Australian Shiraz - but $12 is towards the lower in of pricing and at this price point from a big volume producer one cannot expect too much. This wine more or less lives up to its price - good value but not a great Shiraz. The nose is very thin, the color is a dark ruby red. The taste is also thin and there is only modest tannin present. This is an easy drinking wine that would go well with most red meats, but it falls well below my favorite Shiraz currently Molly Dooker - the Boxer. Twice the price - 10 times the pleasure.

  • {screwcap, 14.5%} All Barossa this vintage. Initially closed; very little aroma, very little palate presence. With a little air, gentle sweet and simple blackberry and strawberry fruits charge through, with a little seasoning vanilla oak. The palate still remains essentially devoid of what you'd really call acid or tannin; it's largely an alcoholic fruit drink, clean and mostly inoffensive, except for an increasing sweetness (probably exacerbated by the flimsy structure) as it sits in the glass. This is bulk, consumer wine, and honestly does a really good job at this; by its own standards it's very good. If you're looking for an 'interesting wine', then go elsewhere. I think a little less sweetness (not that I'm suggesting there's much real RS here) would help, but then I'm not the target demographic for this...

  • Medium deep ruby color, coating the glass. Young aromas of black currant, espresso, mesquite smoke, dried lavender, bitter chocolate and grilled steak. Loses momentum on the palate with low acid and low tannin. Glycerin ripeness, full bodied, lots primary black fruit and sweet vanilla spice. Loses varietal character from the nose. Creamy texture, a little graininess to the tannins. Medium finish with some heat.
