Medium purple with garnet. Green with bright red fruit. Palate is green cherry and pepper spice. Moderate to high acid and fine tannins. Long finish. Opened 1 hour prior.

Pnp. Opaque. Holding the glass up to the computer screen as I was typing I could not see anything on the screen the wine was so dark. On opening this is not aromatically generous. Coaxing out flavors of clove, crushed blackberries, smoked cherry wood, and lilac, but nothing really bursts forward. On the palate this has integrated tannin and fading but perceptible acidity. Black currant with pepper when it first hits, but then coasts along with dried herbs, tobacco leaf, and tarragon. A solid finish with the tarragon notes predominant.
Feels as though this is on the wane. Excellent QPR, but will drink my remaining bottle before 2023.

At end of its drinking window and after a few hours in the air the fruit was fading. Drink up. The first 30 minutes the wine was a 91-92 point wine but faded to a 90 pointer. First 30 minutes plenty of overripe black and red fruits with some dried herbs and sweet Oak. After few hours the fruit was more muted and the herbs, tannins and Oak stepped up a bit too much to retains its score.

Amazing qpr - Touriga blend, could fool you for a Cab / Merlot blend. Rich mouthfeel. Something slightly green up front, followed by chocolate covered dark dried sour cherry.

Nose: Dark and ripe floral fruit mixed with earth/soil, a soft spice, and slight oak.
Palate: Good Earth-like taste.. imagine soil in a well shaded forest floor with some tree bark chips, decent amount of acidity with some oak taste.
Deep ruby colored. Decent finish of about 3+ seconds, medium plus body with grippy tannin. There's a dark fruit in there that I am not quite sure on how to describe but it's enjoyable. I haven't tried much from the Douro except for a lot of their port but this fruit is nice (rather different from the fruit I get from New World wine). A little high on the alcohol but with some sitting out it should be okay (I often don't have the patience).

Opaque purple/black color turning violet at the rim with a reflective edge. The nose shows ripe dark fruit made in the modern style with high octane that lifts smoky notes of cayenne and cocoa. The palate is full-bodied, dense and linear, showing a modern and polished mouthfeel. Flavors of dark cherry, plum, mocha, and smoke. The mid palate is bold and shows promise, yet at this stage hasn't opened up. Finishes a bit short at the moment with hints of graphite and black tea. Perhaps a bit more time can add more complexity. Drink now with a 30-minute decant until 2012.

The aromas are quite simply put, gorgeous, with blackberry, cassis, and cocoa; these smells follow on the palate adding plum, and vanilla to the mix ... But the take away here is all that gorgeous dark fruit both on the nose and in the mouth.

Simple and generic upon opening, with some air this blossomed into an interesting and unusual wine, showing incense, floral perfume, and roast beef (!). Acidity is fairly low, so this would present a difficult food match, but it's delightful, and a change of pace, to drink on its own. It's akin to a feminine Northern Rhone with less acid and tannins.

A meaty, rich and brooding red, offering plenty of mocha notes to the dark plum, dried blackberry and baker's chocolate flavors. Presents accents of smoked paprika midpalate, featuring a finish filled with restrained tannins. Drink now through 2020. Smart Buy. Score - 93. (Kim Marcus, winespectator.com, May 31, 2014)

This wine was an amazing giver on both the nose and palate: sweet cherry, chocolate, vanilla and clove aromas are followed by black cherry with just the right amount of tannin, oak, spices, especially clove and all-spice flavours - it's a wine I could have easily enjoy for the rest of the evening.

Popped and poured. Blackberry, currant, chocolate, spice and licorice. Black cherry, chocolate, licorice, spice, toasted-oak and soft tannins on the palate. Leads to a long, soft finish. Full bodied with a smooth, dense texture. Extremely well made at this price point. Excellent value.

a perfect weekday wine. At $15, the complexity is very high. Touches of mint and licorice touch the red fruit aromas, and while the front and mid palate are very friendly berry and plum, it finishes with a pepper and herb note. Nice.

There are layers of fruit here. At first it is electric and very alive with raspberry that will really pop out at you. It is complimented by violet and rose petals. As the wine opened it became a bit more grounded adding blackberry and mushroom to the nose. Blackberry, blueberry and creme de casis. A touch of pepper fills the mouth as well and helps to create a really interesting wine. There is a small sense of youth and tartness throughout the wine right now which I expect will smooth out a little in the next few years.

Seymour Wine Club Meeting 1/24/15 (Home of the Slywka's): Tasted blind. This had a nose of pepper, raspberry, chocolate and flowers. Wasn't the biggest nose of the night but certainly was interesting. The palate was more interesting with flavors of mocha, raspberry, pepper and a touch of iron. Ended with a nice medium finish. Thought this was the Delaforce because the Touriga Nacional stood out to me but I was a little off. This finished tied for WOTN.

Blackberry, coffee, mint, smokey. Very nice generous tannins. Opened up wonderfully after 30-60 minutes, fairly similar to a numanthia toro. I struggle to find many value wines under $20 with longer aging potential but this has it. Definitely decant if drinking now. 92+

Young wine and needs time. Bought based on price of $15.99 a bottle and WS rating of 93. Dark in color. Nose has peppercorn, smokey, leather and dark fruit. Taste is big, meaty and I felt like a had a cigar in my mouth. Finish is pleasant but evident it needs time to settle. Won't go as high as 93 but terrific for price and could see it pairing well with food from the grill.

Excited to try this. Big nose of raspberry, plum, flowers and herbs. Nose is really jumping out of the glass with the raspberry really prominent. More of the same on the palate with flavors of raspberry, blackberry, sour cherry and a touch of iron. Kind of strange because I would not classify this as new world or old world. Honestly have nothing to compare it to besides the Delaforce, which was similar. Think it must be that Touriga Nacional. Have to disagree with the other comments. This is excellent, especially for the money.

Dark purple in glass, with aromas of baked black fruits. Palate opens with intense raspberry, plum and black cherry flavors, with notes of cedar and licorice adding complexity through mid palate. Finish is creamy and long, with ripe tannins present in support. Big WS score for small price, and quite enjoyable.

I bought this as I was intrigued by the WS rating of 93 points. I don't believe this to be an excellent, boarding on outstanding, bottle of wine. It is clearly very good, with some notable fruit up front, and a nice complex finish. It lacks the overall mouth feel and pronounced nuances such as earth and depth of presence to be special. I would rate it an excellent every day wine at this price point, and wouldn't hesitate recommending it within those parameters.
