Pleasant everyday chardonnay with enough butter to entice the average wine drinker and to shun the wine snob. Apple and pear on the nose and palate. Medium body with mild acidity.

Nose: quite a good nose on this one - lots of fresh apple and pear, not too much buttery toast, a little creamy papaya and some notably mouthwatering acid. Quite soft on entry, acid picks up a little from the mid-palate onwards, but in general the acid on this is too low. Some grip on the tongue, alcohol integration just a little off. Lighter on the palate than anticipated from the nose. Oak blessedly mild. This is a decent, quaffable generic Chard with no glaring flaws, sufficiently well-made to be consumed without food, and not so much oak as to make a second glass undesirable. Lacks structure, will be short-lived. Not a rebuy, but good enough for tonight. 13.5%, $15.

Picked this up after a tasting at the Wente tasting room. This is a non-typical Chardonnay. If I didn't know, I would think I was drinking a Sauvignon Blanc - which explains why I liked it. I've sort of been on a quest to find a Chardonnay that rings my bell. This isn't the holy grail but it stands above the crowd and earned a spot in my fridge. Day 2 - tastes even better and now its clearly a Chardonnay (no confusing it for a Sauv Blanc). Rich with a dense mouth feel. Refreshing, just a bit crisp. Delicious.

For this price range, I think there's quite a bit going on. Color was lighter than most, attractive nose of pears, lemon, vanilla, taste was a little muted (even on subsequent days) with a little minerals, a little vanilla, little honey, little bit of pear. The bottle seems to taste different than most describe (off bottle?), as acidity / tartness was masking everything else. No richness or buttery, though there's some hint of it. If it is truly what I tasted, then this Chard ain't for me, but would love to try again.

Attractive nose of apples, pears, lemon, toast, jasmine, and a kiss of vanilla. Possesses a creamy quality yet feels crisp in the mouth with flavors that turn minerally as it warms. This resonates with class and sophistication. Outstanding. 90+

Buttery, oaky, floral nose. Dry with mild acid. Good balance. Rich, buttery finish. Slightly bitter finish, but not at all objectionable. Very good wine; amazing value.

Buttery with just the right amount of oak. Medium bodied. Long, nicely acidic finish. Very enjoyable.

Clean and crisp with some acidity. Lacks both depth and flavor, the usual coming to room temperature did not enhance the flavor of this wine.

Nice legs and substantial body for a Chardonnay. Buttered Apple and subtle toffee with pineapple, lemon undertones. Very good value.
