Further to my Note of Sept 18, '19: Decanted with almost no sediment. Good color, paired well with savory non-tomato pasta (don't recall but likely pesto shrimp). The food allowed the fruit to show through this time. Given its slow aging, it stays at notable+.

Still very primary with concentrated sour cherry, full bodied but still quite elegant and focussed, medium to long finish. Typical Masi style and one of the better vintages of Campofiorin (89+), will hold for many more years (2025+). Superb price to quality relation.

Bought 6b for 10/b 3+ years ago from a local retailer. Decanted, almost no sediment. Rich, semi-dark color. Fragrant red fruit nose, and rich mouthfeel. Good finish. Stored horizontally in a cool, dark basement since purchase. My evaluation: I've stopped giving scores on a "100-point scale" as I've become less convinced that they can be meaningful to others. I use a 4-category scale (perhaps with +/-)--not including flawed--which runs outstanding/notable/drinkable/poor. I consider this notable+ when considering quality, age, and price.

Corvina predominant red blend. that is an easy drinker. Not much on the nose, mid-palate has moderate red fruit flavor with some spiciness and earthiness (more of the latter), and it finishes smoothly albeit fast. Can be drunk with or without food. Got it at AJ's for just under $21. It's not worth that however, but might buy it again for the $15 that Total Wine in my area lists it for.

Dark opaque purplish color. Extremely jammy & cherry when first opened. After letting it breathe for 30+ minutes, jamminess & cherry receded slowly over 2 hours but still prominent. Some dusty notes shows through along with some cranberry & a touch of unidentifiable spice. Tannins are light and well integrated. Low acidity when first opened & increased to medium-high acidity 1 hour later. Body is med-light. Overall it lacks complexity & depth but is drinkable. Not sure if more time in the bottle would have helped. I would only purchase if again price is <=$10 for everyday drinking or cooking. Served with spinach ravioli in tomato basil sauce and oven roasted Brussel sprouts. Not good with the Brussel sprouts--it the bitterness of the sprouts, even with the caramelization. P didn't care for this wine at all.

Dark, med bodied, med acidity. Blackberries, cherries and a little spice. Nice structure for a wine at this price point. Punches well above its weight class; a tremendous value. Slightly dusty tannins are well integrated. Its roots in the Amarone / ripasso style of Verona shine through.

The wine looks purple colored. The legs are fast. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like cranberry and blackberry. It tastes like cranberry and blackberry. The body is light/medium. The wine has leathery texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium-high acidity.

My Grade: VG+. This needs at least 2 hours of air. Lovely dark cherry with cherry rim in the glass. Nose is a little tight and simple with cherry, vanilla a hint of rosehip. Delicious cherry and raspberry fruit on the palate, smooth mouthfeel, well-balanced acidity, juicy mid with some depth and herbal notes, fine-grained tannins, medium-short juicy/dry finish. Great wine to enjoy with Pizza.

Color: deep ruby red. Some translucency. Nose: ripe figs and mulling spices. Flavor: figs, cherries, dark chocolate, and caramel immediately on the front (think tawny port without the syrup texture or alcoholic heat) that continues onward to the middle that begins to meld with some spice (nutmeg, cinnamon, cardamon?) and cracked pepper components. The finish is very smooth and velvety and lingers on the tongue for a short while.
This bottle is a pleasant surprise: definitely on the fruity side, but the process in which the wine is made definitely allows for complexity. If I had the patience, I'd sit on a half-case for a decade and see what the result is.

Tart, and a bit one-dimensional, opening up with a bit more generosity after some oxygen exposure. Still, not nearly as rich as I was hoping for in a ripasso, and without many interesting secondary characteristics. Not nearly as good as the Allegrini ripasso. I would not buy again for $14.

Hearty Red in the Riposso style (double fermentation on Amarone skins) resulting in intense fruit flavors of Cherry, Plum and Spice.

Dark but slightly transparent (i.e., with low optical density) ruby. Nice intensity on the medium complexity nose, with bright cherry, tobacco smoke, and walnut dust. High acidity on the attack, showing bright cherry that persists through the mid-palate before fading away to spice/smoke on the short finish. Light body and soft tannins make an easy drinking and simple wine. Good for sipping alone, but would also go well with a variety of foods due to its simplicity, refreshing acidity, and bright fruit.

The 2011 Masi Campofiorin presents a vibrant ruby colour and lovely aromas of wild berries, pomegranate seeds and rich spongecake. It is medium to full bodied and rather fleshy on the palate with hints of black currant, Kirsch and sun dried tomatoes. There is however a bit of an acidic imbalance on the somewhat subdued finish and the wine seems to lack the overall structure and character that make up its bigger Amarone siblings. Good value for everyday drinking nonetheless.

Maybe a touch better than my last bottle. I think this is going to be my standard quaffing wine, but it's far from standard. A deep red, colour and a palate of sour cherries with some spice and a great balance of fruit, acidity and tanins, with a medium finish. 87 points.

Color: dark garnet, a bit translucent. Nose: intense, full, rich (might I even say luxurious?) aromas of chocolate and blackberry. Some woody notes, some apples. Hints of vanilla & exotic spices. Palate: smooth and well-structured, with prominent fruitiness and a dash of minerality. Low acidity. Tannins are almost absent. So the aftertaste is unusually mild and calm. Medium finish. Drink now.

One of the most consistent -- and consistently underrated -- wines on the market, I simply couldn't ask for more from a $14 bottle. Round black and red fruit, old world rustic earth and tannins. Versatile and food friendly, it beats the pants off most wines I can think of at twice the price.

One of the most consistent -- and consistently underrated -- wines on the market, I simply couldn't ask for more from a $14 bottle. Round black and red fruit, old world rustic earth and tannins. Versatile and food friendly, it beats the pants off most wines I can think of at twice the price.

Deep, almost black core, purple to burgundy at edges, with hints of dried blood. Sour cherry on the nose, a little dusty. Similar taste - sour ferris, with good tannins and structure.

Aromas of ripe dark berries, dried plums and oak.
On the palate very chocolaty, chocolate covered cherries, red fruits. Very low tannins, and zero acidity. maybe a bit bland and sweet for my taste. But ok, easy drinking wine.
