A much underated quality Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon. After a bit of breathing, first impressions are of aromas of red and dark berries and some florals, possibly violets. On the palette, delicious cabernet fruit with background chocolate, mint, a hint of menthol (could be eucalypt), subtle acid and fine tannins. A bit of zing but not disjointed. Good body and nice length. In my opinion this vintage is only just starting to show its' potential. Will likely improve with another 5-8 years in a good cellar. 91+

Singapore Airlines - Business & Lounges; 6/22/2015-6/26/2015 (Sydney, Singapore, Frankfurt): {screwcap, 14.6%} Basic new world cabernet from the lesser offerings of the Coonawarra vineyards; dark currant & vanilla nose, followed by a palate of gritty tannins and spicy flavours, along with a leafy cabernet note. Despite never rising above medium-bodied in weight, does rather display the fairly high alcohol. Low gritty tannins, and soft acid provide the only real structure; any oak is a seasoning only. Basic commercial effort; not to cellar.

British Airways - Business & Lounges; 11/10/2014-11/15/2014 (Sydney, London): {screwcap, 14.6%} Rather crude and over-cooked. Lots of medium-bodied palate warmth, generic new world black fruits, coarse medium tannins, and a baked short-length finish. Shot through with dead-grape qualities and lacking all freshness and vitality. The Brands tradition continues as far as I’m concerned; what on earth are they doing in Coonawarra in 2012 to get fruit like this? (In BA’s Singapore lounge.)
