71% Syrah/28% Mourvedre/1% Viognier. A beautiful and almost seductive wine after almost 10 years of age. Blackberry, black cherry, and black raspberry fruit up front. Wonderful silky and creamy mid-palate notes of earth, dark chocolate, black licorice, cedar, and savory herbs. Just mouth coating on the long finish with smooth tannins at this point. Great now but no rush on this one.
PNP yesterday with burgers. Opened and gave it 2hours today. Much better with the air time. Absolutely gorgeous nose, nice blackberries, vanilla that is subtle, cherry, cedar, and black raspberry, cherry snd subtle tannins on the long finish . The viognier does add to the nose.

All blueberry and dark red raspberry. Fruit central. Some light licorice and black notes. Tannins have mellowed but still retain a bit of grip. Fantastic. Hendonisitic. 2020-2025+

Decanted briefly. Powerful dark fruit, salted licorice, and aromatic herbs on the palate with quite a bit of peppery heat and biting tannins that improved with about an hour of air. Great paired with spicy BBQ chicken. Probably could still use a little more cellar time to mellow a bit more.

Never disappointed with any bottle from Epoch. Just incredible wine, and so glad I held onto this one. Tons of nuance and the fruit just leaps out and grabs you. Wish I had access to more!

On the nose, bing cherries and plum. In the mouth cherry continues with stewed dark fruit. Coffee-like tannins with a long finish. The fruit was more distinct at “cellar temperature.” Played very well with cheese and quince paste.

Opened by Dan. 71% Syrah, 28% Mouvedre and 1% Viognier. Blackish purple color. A full bodied wine and on the heavy side but not overtly alcoholic. Notes of blackberry and carmel. I previously had the 2009 vintage from this estate with a similar impression. 91 points.

Courtesy of Dan. Deep color. Black fruit, pepper and spice notes. Full-bodied with firm, fine-grained tannins and flavors of plum, black fruit and pepper. Excellent. 92-93 pts.

Blend of 71% Syrah and 29% Mourvedre. Wonderful blend of deep dark fruits. Perfectly integrated with hints of spice and tobacco on the nose. Velvet and rounded in the mouth with a long smooth finish. Drinking very well now, but plenty of life left if you want to cellar.

Good GSM blend (though mostly Syrah) Nice dark fruit with a hint of Syrah spice. Seemed to have missed drinking the first of these, so this will do for both bottles.

I've had a few of these Epochs young and they consistently taste a bit harsh to me although the flavors are pure and fine. Perhaps some more time in bottle would integrate it more to my liking, but it's a pleasant if rough drink at the moment.

Great wine! Bid and bold up front with chewy dark cherry and blackberry fruit that turns into a silky texture on the mid-palate of tar, earth, cedar, and dark chocolate that just coats the mouth. Has a savory characteristic to it on the finish, mainly due to the 28% Mourvedre from the mostly Syrah based wine. Wonderful balance, firm tannins, long finish.

Absolutely money. PNP and should have decanted for 30 minutes but opened up in the glass and was the hit if the night. Well rounded, big fruit, spice box and plum with lovely silk finish

Dark red. PNP from my cellar but took to a restaurant. Deep, rich, absolutely lovely ! Too much going on to do a formal tasting note at the time. Drinking well now. Looking forward to my other bottles !

This is going to be the next Saxum as the vines mature. What a super wine for the price. Nice blend that is well integrated with a smooth, long finish. This bottle just got better and better as time passed. Nicely done Epoch!

An excellent, silky rhone blend. Heavy on the syrah makes it bold and structured. Easily a few years left.

15.7% ABV; 71% Syrah, 28% Mourvèdre, 1% Viognier (from a Syrah co-ferment)
I think tannins will be integrated in 2020.
