Warm nights, big wines (park ridge country club, park ridge, IL): Nose: The nose is deep, pungent, and powerful with black cherries, black raspberries, cranberries, dusty notes, bitter chocolate, tobacco, leather, dark spices, violets, licorice, and earth notes.
Taste: The feel is full bodied with tart, high acidity and chewy, medium+ tannins. The structure has peeled back a bit, but it is still noticeable with deep tones of black cherries, dust, bitter chocolate, leather, licorice, earth notes, and violets.
Overall: This was my contribution on the night and I was extremely impressed with how it showed. This had all of the dark spices and sort of edge that I love from Priorat and it was there in spades. This is perfect for drinking right now and there are still plenty of years left.

Second Sunday Group: Priorat (Frank's): Double blind. Opens with a weedy, vegetal quaity, fading to black fruit, perhaps cassis. A bit of spice here too. Tannic. Shows a fair amount of alcoholic heat. Dark fruit fades on the palate, turning austere and tannic through the finish. Others liked this- I guess it's just not my cup of tea.

Dark fruit, ripe, round, and earthy, with just enough acidity to hold things together. Quite nice, but might be time to drink up.

Terrific wine, very complex, heavy body, high alcohol and moderate tannin. Enjoyed with slow roasted pork and couldn't have gone better together.

Translucent.
Rich syrupy fruit on the nose.
Delicious, elegant, spicy, mellow oaky mid palate, long.
