  • 86: Extraordinarily drinkable red blend (64% Malbec, 20% Syrah, 16% Bonarda) from the Mendoza region. The only real knock against it is the lack of complexity that one might expect from a blend like this, but the skill of the vintner is obvious in the smoothness of the mouthfeel and well-managed tannins. Fairly fruit forward on the tongue with a pleasant finish, though the latter is a bit on the sweet side. An insane QPR for $4.19 (on clearance unfortunately). Paired equally well with blue cheese steak and pork satay.

  • This is kind of a fun wine. It is a little bit sweet, so we have to discount it as totally serious. But, in it's own way it tastes pretty good. It is 62% Malbec, 21% Syrah, and 17% Bonarda. The Bonarda leaves a rustic black cherry feature on the palate, while the other 2 varietals give a little bit of structure and tannins. Deep purple color. Nose shows some heavy oak influence. Some gritty little tannins. Not much mid palate. Stemy, rustic mulberry finish.
