Pop and pour indeed. Plummy fruit and soft tannins. I prefer a bit more structure, but will be pleasing for those who like them softer. Drink now for sure

Decanted one hour before service. In the glass, dark red with a slightly pink/orange meniscus, shading to dark red/maroon at the core. On the nose, beef blood, lavender, and thyme. On the palate, plums, pepper, lavender, and juicy peach, with largely resolved tannins on a moderately long finish. I'd bet this is the plateau - time to give one a go if you haven't already.

Popped and poured as cocktail wine. Fun and silky with a hint of tangerine. I thought it might be challenging for some but everyone loved it. Drinking beautifully right now.

Overall this was a toned down version of the 2013, but what it lacked in power it made up for with nice red fruit, florals and spice notes that were all just much more delicate and nuanced.

Meant to open a 2007 but grabbed this by mistake. It opened up nicely, silky and elegant as usual for Sanguis but not as concentrated as some others I've had. I'm not sure whether that's due to the vintage or the cellaring time. Still lovely though.

Decanted 90 minutes prior to serving to celebrate being back home. Very primary at the beginning, offering up some restrained black and blue fruits. But over a two-hour dinner this was a concussion grenade in the glass, offering an explosion of primary and secondary notes -- lush fruits, tar and herbs, especially lavender. Lip-smacking finish. Ticks off all the boxes. Quite a ride. If scoring, this would easily be in the high 90s. (= Outstanding)

Garnet colored in the glass, very pretty presentation. Pomegranate, cracked pepper and soy sauce play the nose. Light crisp mouthfeel. Terroir focused, speaks of granite, wet earth and slight white pepper. Nice finish that doesn't leave, flashes mushroom and anise spice. Well made.

Loved this wine...!! Opened midday and let breathe for about 5 + hours... Dark red fruit and fig with a smooth hint of spice... very polished and well balanced...lovely finish with not a ton of tannins...

(There's nothing about Bien Nacido on the label so I think this is listed wrong.)
Good bottle. New world but significant finesse and gorgeous fruit. As much as I complain about being tired of California wines, I couldn't get enough of this bottle.

A decided shift in style for Sanguis. Tasted blind I would have easily guessed nothern rhone. This is a lot less fruit dependent and has more of an olive and rock tone to it. A touch of stems here which I like. Think this will show better with more time in the bottle.

(Tasting at the Sanguis Fall Pickup Party) Huge. Dark and brooding in the glass with hulking legs and tarry, spicy aromatics. Blackberries are at the forefront of the palate right now, but it will be interesting to see what other nuances it develops over time. A lusty finish of licorice, tar and thyme. Check this out again in 2018.

Pop and pour. This is singing now with nice mellow red and black fruit, smoke, and mature tannins. Drink over the next few years.

A little smoky, a little old world. Drinking great with just a little air. Right in its window.

Pop and pour. Savory dark fruit on the palate with some quince notes in the finish. Sturdy, smoky wine for people who like this style.

Popped and drank, but it needed time. Opened up in the glass over about two hours.

Showing well. Soft, balanced syrah in great drinking window. Excellent effort for a cool year.

Spectacular with BBQ ribs. I want more. My same comment about Sanguis: this stuff isn't going to be $70 for long.
