4th Saturday Brown Bagger (R&D’s): Double blind. Lighter color than other in the flight, with a nose of red berry fruit and spice. The palate mirrors the bouquet, picking up a subtle sourness as well. Good. (J&L)

An atypical Zinfandel. Most serious Zins are made in a big everything style black in color, highly alcoholic, heavy bodied, peppery, raisin sweet, chocolaty, low in acid and tannin, strongly oaked, and richly fruity. Instead, this Robert Craig version from Howell Mountain is more elegant, dryer, well structured by acidity and tannin, and lacks pepper, sugar sweetness, and chocolate. Overall, the wine is closer in style to California wines made from Bordeaux grapes, including Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Regardless of which contrasting style you prefer, both are legitimate expressions of the diversity of the wines Zinfandel can make.

Mostly primary with very integrated tannins. I could barely perceive any tannins, to be honest. Oak is in check...nice and subtle. The fruit is up front and the body is medium. Not a dark Zin. Medium red in color. A little heat, but it complements the wine very well.
This is an early drinking Zin. Like, now.
