Retried (I unfortunately have a few). Flawed. A little Bret and a little VA. This winery charges a lot and never seems to get it quite right. Agree also with others’ mention of “petroleum” (great for Riesling- not so much here) and “medicinal” qualities.

Dark fruit and chocolate, full bodied, rich, with plush tannins. In a word, modern. A bit engineered-tasting, but hard not to enjoy. A good Thursday night football wine. Not for cogitation. A tiny medicinal cut near the finish that makes it a touch more interesting. Drink now and for 3 more years.

Dark fruited nose shows camphor and the slightest hint of jam. Black currants, spices, and a medicinal aspect on the full bodied palate. Fruit masks high alcohol. Nothing complex, just tasty and enjoyable.

My understanding from the distributor was that they had asked Daou to create something that would compete with the success of The Prisoner and this is the result.
A bit jammy for some, but most average male wine drinkers seem to love it. Dried fruits on the palate. Good Balance. Very Good Value.

A nose of dark fruit and spice, dark purple in color. A medium to full bodied kitchen sink red, with blackberry, cassis, chocolate and spice on finish, some heat. www.winelx.com

Have a few golf buddies who are members of the Daou wine club & never heard of it. But, they and others in our group have enjoyed multiple bottles on several different occasions so it "makes the cut". We use an aerating pourer which might help some, but it is easy drinking and a great value at $20-$25.

I am sure there's a pairing suitable to this blend of overripe dark berries but whatever it is, it will need to cut through a petroleum undertone which seldom pleases me.

Great wine for hearty meals. Hedonistically dense and rich, but much lighter on the second night. Lots of dark fruit on the palate.

Hints of spice; earthy/minerals; stone fruits including cherries; toasted oak element; silky finish; very balanced, with a lot of character.
