  • Deep dark crimson purple. Strong aroma of Spicy, dry oak, dark berries. Plum, cherry, cocoa, milk chocolate. Fine, but crunchy tannin. Acidity stands out a bit. Overall a smooth enjoyable wine.

  • Brought for lunch at my parents in laws'. Diam cork. Decanted for one hour. The medium-bodied wine was dark ruby in colour and offered red and dark fruit, cherry, blackberry, chocolate, spices, black pepper and some liquorice on the nose and palate, with medium-level acidity, smooth tannin and good length. The wine had average concentration, but good complexity. It was alcoholic, but reasonably smooth and reasonably balanced. Probably the best Bleasdale wine I had to date, but as every bottle of Bleasdale wine I had before, ultimately this wine left me underwhelmed. The additional bottle age has helped, but I doubt that the wine will go the long distance. For mid-term drinking.

  • Diam cork. We decanted the wine for two hours before we had the first glasses. It was dark ruby in colour and offered dark fruit, blackberry, dark cherry, dark chocolate, fruitcake, spices, black pepper and a touch of mint on the nose. On the palate, the wine showed dark fruit, blackberry, plum, chocolate, coffee, fruit cake, black pepper and a hint of menthol, followed by cherry, chocolate and a spicy finish, with medium-level acidity, smooth tannin and average length. The medium- to full-bodied, reasonably smooth Shiraz was a little bland. As every single Bleasdale wine I have had to date, this wine was technically correct but left me underwhelmed. Would not buy again.

  • Dark Purple Crimson colour. Aroma of grilled meat, sauerkraut and show polish. Plum, blackberry, prune, eucalyptus and cocoa. Full bodied, rich and musky. Chocolate tannin but edgy acidity and hot alcohol. Better on the second day. Has lost some of the fresh fruit from its early days and the acidity has stood out. I was very excited by this wine a couple of years ago but it appears to have gone backwards. Am desperately hoping it will improve again but losing faith.

  • Not as enjoyable as the last bottle. It's still robust, but rather than the good fruit notes, there was more cured meats, and the oak was much more evident. Maybe a dud bottle (curse that cork nonsense). It's still OK, plenty of dark fruit and firm, grippy tannins.

  • Black Crimson colour. Sawdust, truffle and hay aroma. Fine tannin with blackberry, black cherry, date, light olive. Slight pepper and spice. Medium to full body with long finish. Not as fruit forward as the last bottle but a nice balance with the oak.

  • Seems like a polarising wine looking over reviews on other sites. Purple in the glass. Strong aromas of plums and spice on the nose. The palate is big and bold dark fruits, a spicey/peppery mid palate, some oak coming in at the end and solid tannins underpinning the whole thing. I drank this over two nights and didn't notice any dramatic degradation between the two. I have a bunch left, so will try one/year to see if cellaring helps

  • Really enjoyed this wine in it's early stage... Although drinking beautifully now, I can't wait to approach this over the next 5-10 years... I'm going back for more!

  • Consistent deep purple colour. Sweet plum, black berry, raspberry. Underlying tannin in perfect sync with the fruit. Full body with long finish. Very smooth wine with all components working together.
